T raveling somewhere can be very fun and exciting, but it can also be tiring and grueling. It’s always nice to be home and have the trip behind you. Then you can then look back at everything that happened and remember the good times. Sing along if you want to. “He’s making a list, checking it twice – gonna find out who’s naughty or nice…” Seems like every movie with Santa Claus in it eventually gets around to talking about the “naughty” and “nice” lists. Of course, the people on the “naughty” list get a lump of coal in their stocking (if even that) – and the “nice” people get all sorts of beautiful, expensive presents. If God had “naughty” and “nice” lists like those, and if we could take a look at them, which one would we find our name on? Based upon how well we keep the Commandments, we’d all wind up on the “naughty” list. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) So can we all expect to get a lump of coal in our stocking this year? Not from God. What we can expect this Christmas is the same thing that God has given us every Christmas – His Son! What a pre- cious gift! And the gift isn’t based upon how well we’ve behaved or how much we deserve it – it’s based upon God’s love for us. “But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Christmas isn’t about being rewarded for doing good. It’s about being forgiven for Jesus’ sake. Remember that as you prepare and celebrate. T raveling somewhere can be very fun and exciting, but it can also be tiring and grueling. It’s always nice to be home and have the trip

behind you. Then you can then look back at everything that happened and remember the good times.

Sing along if you want to. “He’s making a list, checking it twice – gonna find out who’s naughty or nice…”

Seems like every movie with Santa Claus in it eventually gets around to talking about the “naughty” and “nice” lists. Of course, the people on the “naughty”

list get a lump of coal in their stocking (if even that) – and the “nice” people get all sorts of beautiful, expensive presents.

If God had “naughty” and “nice” lists like those, and if we could take a look at them, which one would we find our name on?

Based upon how well we keep the Commandments, we’d all wind up on the “naughty” list. “For all have sinned and

fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) So can we all expect to get a lump of coal in our stocking this year? Not from God.

What we can expect this Christmas is the same thing that God has given us every Christmas – His Son! What a pre-cious gift! And the gift isn’t based upon how well we’ve behaved or how much we deserve it – it’s based upon God’s love for us. “But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Christmas isn’t about being rewarded for doing good. It’s about being forgiven for Jesus’ sake. Remember that as you prepare and celebrate. That’s the real reason for this season.

Pastor Lutz's service to Christ Lutheran Church was recognized on October 24.

The Board of Evangelism has coordinated the sponsorship of a Nativity Tree for this year’s Festival of Trees (Festival of Trees benefits Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services). This is an opportunity to witness to our community about the true mean-ing of Christmas.

Thank you for supporting this evangelism opportunity. Contact Nancy Lewis with any questions.

We hope that you will take time to attend the Festival of Trees with your family and friends which will be at The Stoney Creek Inn, November 23-28.

WVLHS gave a presentation on their trip to Ghana.

Jayme Wyss was installed on October 10 as Director of Christian Education.

Little Lambs Day Care has been very busy this fall. We have learned about friendships, apples, leaves, community help-ers and our five senses.

We had Officer Friendly come to Little Lambs and talk about bike safety. He checked our helmets and bikes to make sure they were safe. We did a trik-othon and raised money

for St. Jude's Childrens Hospital.

We had fireman Al come and talk about fire safety. He let the children try on his gear and look at all the equipment on the fire truck.

We had been learning how important the five senses are and how many times we use them daily. We had fun outside

jumping in the leaves and playing games like run, turkey, run. We went to Wilke's Pumpkin Patch and went on a hayride.

Little Lambs Christmas program and potluck will be hel on Monday, December 20 at 5:30 pm. Everyone is welcme. Please bring a dish to pass.

LIFE QUOTES from Lutherans for Life“Speak about adoption positively … as loving and sacrificial. Acknowledge that adoption is a loss and there is grief involved. Know that adoption is a tool used by God to solve family prob-lems. Biblical models of adoption abound, Moses (Exodus 2); Eliezer (Genesis 15); Ephraim and Manasseh (Genesis 48); Samuel (1 Samuel 1); and of course Jesus adopted by Joseph. In unwant-ed pregnancy situations, adoption—not abortion—is a God-pleasing solution.”

We meet in the church basement on the third Wednesday of the month at 1 p.m. We have one date left to meet this year, December 15.

We work until 3:30 p.m. or so, but we also have a devo-tion and a snack. The quilts are 60x80 when finished. We accept gently used sheets and other suitable materials. Some are used whole and others are cut into blocks and sewed into tops.

We make these for LWR mainly, but have also given to Hope Pregnancy Center, The Women’s Community and the Neighbor’s Place. One is kept for a family in need.

We have made several that will go to the Camp Luther fund raiser.

Please consider joining us to give it a try and to serve in a special way.

Members of the Michaelis CCG kept in touch this summer with a trip to Karla Lokker’s cottage on Eagle River on July 25.

We went out for a nice luncheon. Afterwards, Captain Karla took us on a pontoon ride up the Eagle River. We enjoyed the scenery and looking at the beau-tiful homes along the river. We even had two sightings of wildlife - a loon and a bald eagle.

Members attending were Karla Lokker, Yvonne Schilsky, Charlene Knippel, Linda Tryczak, Susan Picket and Sandi Michaelis.

All aboard!
