Pathway Application

I'm writing to you to express my interest inand concernswith the Russell Group pathway.

1.Key Achievements in Year 11 inside and outside of lessons:

One of my greatest achievements from Year 11 was being nominated to become Head-Boy. Although I did not get the position I was still extremely happy that I was considered to be appointed a well-regarded role.Another personal achievement that I obtained in Year 11 was I discovered a deep passion for drama and music, which caused me to start planning ahead for the future. I have finally come to terms with my ambitions and I'm now more determined than ever to make sure that I can achieve these now-seemingly possible 'dreams'.

There are multiple things, from Year 11, that I am extremely proud of especially within artistic aspects. Performing (Signing) in-front of the School on multiple occasions, that took place in the academy, such as; An end-of-term assembly, a Christmas market (Held at the Heartsease Primary School) and the Christmas Fair. I acted as an extra in a film called 'I'm Still Here' that was produced by a NUA student and was entered into an indie film festival and was nominated an award. Being a part in this process has inspired me to learn more about film production. I also acted in an A-Level Film Studies piece, where I played the main character who has a fairly disturbing life. This opportunity of staring in a film has given me some initial experience in the acting industry. This project taught me how much I love to act and it encourages me to partake in more work in the future.Academically, I am happy with most of my overall grades because I feel as if they accurately represent the effort I put into my GCSE courses. Although I was dissatisfied with some of my grades this year I am ensuring that I put in an extra 100 percent more effort into my A-Levels so that I can acquire high AS/A2 grades.

2.Studying at OA6 - What does it mean to you?

Studying at the OA6 means a whole lot to me, almost to a point where I could not accurately describe how much it cherish OA6. OA6 offers me a sense of security - I know that OA6 is doing the very best for me as an individual as is making sure that I obtain the grades that I deserve. OA6 provides me with many different opportunities that I wouldn't get from others schools, e.g. university-alliances, usage of a working TV studio, mentor support and working in congruence with Cinema City / Picture house.

3.What are aspirations and plans for life afterUEA?

I plan to start work as soon as possible so that I can take all of the skills I had learnt from the course and put them into practice.

4.What do you want to get from working with the UEA?

The main thing I want to gain from this experience isunderstanding of what university life is like for different people and if it's really what I want to do in the future. I want the UEA to give me some clarity about whether university life is for me, or not.

5.Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

In 5 years time I see myself living either in London or America as they're both the hubs for actors/performers and I someday wish to perform on stage or in film. I would like to be a working actor that is highly regarded for my performances. I see myself performing at intimate venues initially but I would like to branch out to many different pathways such as stage/film and later even incorporating my zeal for psychology, as a Drama Therapist.

Concerns:Point 3 suggests that I have already planned to go to UEA but to be truthful I haven't really considered UEA as an option, as the course that I would like to study isn't really specialized in UEA and I believe that I will be better-off studying at an highly-esteemed institution where my desired course is their main focus/specialization such as RADA, LAMDA, Guildhall, etc.

I'm also not 100% sure that the academic pathway will be beneficial to me because I already have a large amount of work outside of school (Drama Clubs & TV Studio Project, which I will lose multiple free periods as a result of) and inside of school, all of which are proving already to be a struggle and I want to make sure that I can dedicate my entire energy to my A-Level courses.
