It is a matter of immense pleasure that the Kendriya Vidyalaya, Vijayapura has tried to unfold

the creative instinct of students through the publication of School Magazine. Students have

multiple kinds of hidden treasure in themselves in the form of diverse types of creativity. The

Vidyalaya magazine provides a wide platform to blossom such creativity. The School magazine

plays a catalytic role in bringing out such hidden talents. Students develop their personality by

having a good combination of inner and outer aspects of life. This is the reflection of students’

complete development and it assesses how they are capable to connect their classroom

learning to the outside world. The School magazine appreciates the creativity of students and

finally enhances a sensibility.

Deriving inspiration from these famous words we are bringing out the next edition of

Vidyalaya Patrika of K V Bijapur to give wings to the imagination of its budding artists and

life to their thoughts and aspirations. Vidyalaya Patrika unleashes a wide spectrum of creative

skills ranging from writing to editing and even in designing the magazine.

This edition of the school magazine not only captures the spirt of K V Bijapur but it

also demonstrates the exuberance, vibrancy and commitment to excellence that is, I trust, an

accurate reflection of daily life. Every student is an individual, a real person with feelings of

self-respect, sensitivity, responsibility and compassion. We need to recognize, appreciate,

applaud and foster the fine blend of sensibilities in a child – and thus this Patrika is to be

viewed as a launch pad for the children’s creative urges to blossom naturally. As the saying

goes, mind like parachute works best when opened. This humble initiative is to set the

WELCOME SPEECH AND THE ANNUAL REPORT

Good evening everybody

Most revered Sh. Sivakumar K.B. IAS, –Deputy Commissioner of Vijayapur District and

Chairman VMC K V Vijayapura, Guest of honour Madam Kalaiyarasi S.,VMC Members,

invited dignitaries, beloved parents, my dear staff and students,

On this august occasion of the 19th Annual Day Celebration of K V Vijayapura it gives me

immense pleasure to welcome our Chief Guest, the invited dignitaries and all the

parents present here from this newly constructed stage through the generous

contributions of you all.

Our esteemed Chairman Sh. Sivakumar K B IAS has found time out of his very busy

schedule to be with us all today and grace the occasion as Chief guest. We feel greatly

honoured by your presence. Sir, on behalf of the entire Vidyalaya family I extend you

a warm welcome.

I extend a hearty welcome to the guest of honour Madam Kalaiyarasi, whose graceful

presence has enchanted all of us and added value to this evening.

I also extend a warm welcome to the V M C members, all the invited dignitaries and

our beloved parents who are relentlessly extending their love and support.

I would also like to welcome, all the staff and students of K V Vijayapura who have

inexorably put their efforts to make this function happen.

ANNUAL REPORT

Ladies and gentleman,

It is my bounden duty to present before you a brief happenings of the Vidyalaya since

the 18th Annual day celebrated on 29th November 2016.

As I present the roundup of the previous year’s activities with humility I would like to

say that we left no stone unturned to go beyond the set target in search of

excellence. I am really proud of my teachers and students.

1.ACADEMICS

Let me begin by quoting the great Nelson Mandela “Education is the most powerful

weapon which you can use to change the world”. Excellence in academics is the first

priority of our school. The cent percent result in class X & class XII proves without any

doubt that our students have done extremely well.

07 Students namely, Aditya R Chikmath , Chinmayee Kulkarni, K. V. Shriya Reddy,

Shilpa N ,Sneha Mogali , Sampat Kumar M and Swarali Athalye scored the perfect

score of 10 CGPA for their meritorious performance in the class X Board Examinations

for the year 2016-17 and won a cash award of Rs:5000 from KVS. All the 83 students

appeared in the class X board exam passed with good percentage.

In class XII all the 08 students passed with flying colours. Master Hamid was the topper

with 77%.

Over all, out of 934 students studied during the year 2016-17,930 students were

promoted to the next higher class. The overall pass percentage of the Vidyalaya is

99.57 %. 06 students scored 10 CGPA from classes VI to IX and won the proficiency

prize.

I would like to appreciate the teachers who put in extra efforts for this exemplary result

especially the teachers of board appearing classes. I would like to mention that Mrs.

Prasanna Kumari PGT(Phy) was given excellence award for her quality result in class

XII by KVS.

As per the request of parents Kannada was started as a hobby subject from class I to

VIII by appointing a qualified Kannada teacher this academic year.

Even though 83 students passed out in class X with good percentage no one turned up

for taking admission in class XI. This is a matter of great concern as the science stream

running in the Vidyalaya for Higher Secondary Classes will be closed down if the trend

continues this year too.

2.NATIONAL LEVEL ACHIEVEMENTS

Master Vinayak of class VIII was selected to attend the national level social science

exhibition for on the spot painting completion and he will be touring Uttarakhand at

the end of this month.

A Poem written by Smt.C Madhuri PGT(Eng) of our school got published in

Kayamangari an annual publication of poems by KVS.

3.CO CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan believes in scaffolding every child to become

multifaceted personalities by organizing various co-curricular activities throughout the

year. Exploration, experimentation and innovation are the buzz words in the Vidyalaya.

4.EXHIBITIONS AND OLYMPIADS

Social Science Exhibition is being organized with an aim to promote national

integration, appreciation of Indian art and culture, to establish long term

engagements, and to promote learning between the states by sharing best practices

and experiences. This is an opportunity for students to show their originality and

creativity. From the school Level Social Science exhibitions 50 students were selected

to participate in the cluster level social science exhibition. Kendriya Vidyalaya

Vijayapura got a unique opportunity to host cluster level social science exhibition cum

National Integration Camp on 8th and 9th September-2017 for the first time. The theme

of exhibition was ‘EK Bharat Shresht Bharat”. Competitions were conducted in 10

events and 300 students from 08 Kendriya Vidyalayas participated in the

competitions.34 students of K V Vijayapura were selected for the next level

competition’s at the region at K V No 1 Hubbali on 16th and 17th of September

2017.They participated in events such as group song ,group dance, skit, on the spot

painting, quiz and debate competitions. Among them Master Vinayak of Class VIII was

selected to represent Bangalore region for on the spot painting completion in the

national level at K V No.2 Delhi Cantt,which is by all means a huge achievement.

5.National Children's Science Congress (NCSC) provides the children a rare

opportunity to use their scientific temperament and skill to realize their dreams. Five

students of K V Vijayapura Master Samarth , Master Aiman, Master Taheer Takke,

Master Mallevedant and Master Prem Charan presented their projects in the

Regional Level competitions at KV- NAL on 6th and 7th Nov-2017 . The focal theme of

the congress was “Science, Technology & Innovation for sustainable Development”

6. MATHEMATICS OLYMPIAD

Students of class IX, X and XI participate in Pre-Regional Mathematics Olympiad every

year. This year the PRMO was conducted on 20th August 2017 in which 30

meritorious students participated. Kumari Shreya of class X was selected for the

Regional Mathematics Olympiad which was held on 8th October 2017.

7. CUBS, BULBULS, SCOUTS AND GUIDES :

Excellence happens not by accident. It is a process. By Dr.A P J Abdul Kalam

In order to encourage the students to become self-reliant and inspire them to offer

self-less service to the society, Scout and Guide movement is given priority in the

Vidyalaya. 249 students have enlisted in the movement.

In the history of KV Vijayapura, for the first time 8 students, 4 Scouts and 4 Guides

have cleared Rajyapuraskar testing camp held at KV No.1 Uppal Hyderabad in the

month of July-2017. They are eligible to attend Rashtrapathi testing camp to be held

very soon.

08 Scouts and 08 Guides have qualified for Rajyapuraskar after clearing Tritiya Sopan

Testing Camp held at KV Dharwad and KV No.1 Hubli respectively in the month of

August-2017.

A testing camp was conducted in the Vidyalaya on 22nd February 2017 for Cubs and

Bulbuls and Pravesh/Pratham and Dwitiya Sopan for Scouts and Guides. All the

candidates have cleared the test successfully.

8. SPORTS AND GAMES:

Continuous effort- not strength or intelligence is the key to unlocking our potential

A sound mind dwells in a healthy body. Different sports and games activities are

organized throughout the academic year to improve the physical fitness of the

students. Two teams with 10 students each participated in the Regional level sports

meet for under 14 handball for boys and under 14 Kho-Kho for Girls held at K V CRPF

Bengaluru and K V Yellahanka Bengaluru respectively in August 2017.

Annual Sports Meet: The Vidyalaya Annual Sports Meet was organized on 29th

November 2017,in a grand way ,which was graced by our honorable Chairman.

Madam Kalaiarasi gave away the prizes. It was a fine mass display of physical fitness

and agility by our students promoting sportsman spirit.

Rolling shield was given to the best contingent for March Past- Scout and Guide

Team. The rolling shield for the overall Championship for sporting events round up

the year was awarded to Krishna House.

Mini Sports Day was observed on 15th November-2017, to motivate and to enthuse

primary students towards sports and games with the motto “Catch them Young”.

9. CELEBRATIONS OF IMPORTANT DAYS AND WEEKS.

a. International day of Yoga:

Exercise is the chief source of improvement in our faculties.

In this competitive world, the most neglected aspect is one’s health. Children often

resort to unhealthy life style and this adversely effects their health. To edify them

yoga classes are being conducted regularly. International Yoga day is celebrated on

21st June every year in true letter and spirit.

b. Independence Day: lighting the school building

To commemorate the sacrifice of those sung and unsung heroes of freedom

movement and to highlight for being a free nation for the past seventy years, a grand

celebration of Independence Day was observed by lighting the Vidyalaya building and

organizing cultural activities. The spirit of freedom was felt and realized.

c. Sanskrit week:

Sanskrit is supposed to be the mother of Latin, Roman, Arabic and all Indian

Languages. An amazingly rich language, served as the cradle of Indian civilization. To

reinvent its glory Sanskrit week was observed in the first week of August, where

several competitions were held to encourage the students to promote this ancient

language.

d. Hindi Pakhwada:

If there is one language that binds all the regions and we Indians, it is none but HINDI.

To promote Hindi and taste the essence of its beauty, various competitions ware held

like essay writing, debate, extempore etc. during Hindi Pakhwade from 04th

September to 19th September 2017. Guest Lectures were organized by inviting

eminent scholars to motivate the students and to learn the importance of the

language.

e. Investiture ceremony:

To groom the students into responsible citizens and to involve them in the day to day

functioning of Vidyalaya, student council for the session 2017-18 was formed. The

students were given badges and entrusted with the responsibilities they ought to

carry out as office bearers on 13th October 2017.

f. Vigilance Awareness Week:

Never tell people how to do things. Tell, them what to do and they will surprise you

with their integrity.

Probity in public life is an essential aspect to be taught to the students. Vigilance

awareness week was observed from 26th October to 31st October 2017.

g. Grand Parents Day:

To reinforce in the young Children the importance of the elderly people, how they

upkeep the values which our Nation claims to be a repository, Grand Parents Day is

observed. Where grandparents of the students from classes I-V are invited and

felicitated. This year the grandparent’s day was celebrated on 18th November 2017.

Besides, we also observed important days such as National Unity Day on 31st October

by organizing Run for Unity, National Education Day on 11th November and

Constitution Day on 26th November 2017.

10. ADOLESCENT EDUCATION PROGRAMME:

In the high tide of westernization our young generation is getting swept away, unable

to use their discretion and morality in right way. They need to be oriented in right

direction, so that our nation will be teeming with potential and synergy.

So students of secondary classes are educated about the physical and mental and

emotional changes they undergo. Advocacy workshops by eminent doctors are

conducted at least twice in a year.

A counsellor is appointed to counsel and guide the students.

This year two of our teachers attended AEP Orientation course organized by KVS.

11. HEALTH CHECK UP:

Helth check ups are organized twice a year for the students with a view to diagnose

and detect possible deformations and ailments by eminent doctors from district

hospital Vijayapur.

12. ANNUAL PANEL INSPECTION:

An Annual Panel inspection of vidyalaya was held on 4th July -2017. A team of

Principals headed by Shri Rajagopal, Assistant Commissioner KVS (RO) Bangalore

inspected all the aspects of vidyalaya. Some valuable suggestions were given for the

further improvement in the functioning of Vidyalaya.

13.VMC & PTA:

First VMC Meeting of this academic year was conducted on on 28th August2017. The

meeting was chaired by Hon’ble Chairman VMC,Sh. Sivakumar K B IAS-. The

members were briefed about the academic performance, Admissions infrastructure

development and other relevant issues related to Vidyalaya.

PTA meetings are conducted regularly after each Monthly, Periodic Tests and Mid-

Term & Half-Yearly Examinations.

Parents are apprised about the strong and weak areas about the learning of their

wards

14. INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT:

a. Smart class rooms:

To be at pace with cutting edge technology and to beat the monotony of learning,

the classrooms are fitted with projectors, visualizers and smart boards. Virtual

classrooms are created to enable the students to learn with insight. All class rooms

from class VI to X are converted to Smart class rooms. Besides there are two

computer labs, an e-classroom and an activity hall with all the ICT Technology.

c. Assembly Stage for Secondary & Primary Students.

This assembly stage with roofing and background wall was built with generous

contributions from parents with the consent of the VMC. It was a magnanimous

gesture from the parents to create an asset to the Vidyalaya which could be used by

thousands of students to sharpen their co-curricular skills for years to come. Also an

assembly stage for Primary students is built.

15. SHARING WITH NEIGHBOUR HOOD SCHOOL:

The most valuable gifts a human can give to others are sharing and caring. Share

what you have, care for those you have.

K V Vijayapura has entered into a partnership with Govt. Muslim Residential School

Afzalpur Takke to learn from each other and to cooperate for the betterment of

students.

The Principal, and staff of Shri Mahadevamma Public School Chitapur Kalburgi visited

the Vidyalaya on 04th November 2017, to learn the conduct of various Scholastic, Co-

Scholastic and CCA activities being held in the Vidyalaya.

16.CONCLUSION:

Once again I would like to thank the Chairman, VMC Members and all the parents

and well-wishers of this Vidyalaya for your unconditional support and cooperation.

Together we shall strive to make this institution better and better day by day.

When I hear or say Be Prepared, I reflect on it, what is that we need to Be Prepared? Is it

preparing ourselves to cope with tomorrow or restricted to the scout movement. Does it have

a larger implication? The more I think I get the answer. Is it to be prepared physically,

emotionally so that we combat any adverse circumstance personal or social one. Be prepared

is not just a motto but the condition of our mind. It is a positive vibe that helps us to sustain

in any given condition and train ourselves to be fit to tackle it.

A good scout and Guide is one who is groomed to become a servant of humanity rather than

of God. She or he should enable to see divinity in each individual. A spirit of selfless service

and volunteering a responsibility is nurtured in each of them. Every aspect of the uniform

reminds them their duty towards society and mankind. A virtuous society is possible when

scout & Guide movement is taken religiously and the said precinct is followed with true heart.

In this materialistic world, where people hardly have time to think about the neighbor, it a

scout/guide who should be a solace in such social milieu. So these youngsters should be more

service oriented only then the ideals of Sir Baden Powel will cherish forever.
