THE BEST MAN ...

a political drama by Gore Vidal

directed by Bob Canetta

William Russell, the ex-Secretary of State, is a wit and scholar withliberal principles. Joseph Cantwell is a ruthless and hard-driving youngman, a dirty fighter who will let no scruples stand in the way of hisambitions. And Arthur Hockstader is an ex-President who loves politicsfor their own sake, and is determined to have the final say in the selec-tion of his party's candidate. The final outcome makes The Best Mana fascinating play which comes shockingly close to many of the politicaltruths with which we have recently been dealing.
