Description: Quick and easy gift bag, with a
checked pattern, and double drawstring.
Skill Level:
Yarn: DMC Petra 3
Hook: 2.5mm
Stitches: hdc, dc
Gauge/Tension: not critical for this pattern
Measurements: 4.5in (11cm) L x 3in (7.5cm)W
Terminology: USA - American crochet terms
This pattern: uses multiples of 2 stitches.
Before you begin: readthe pattern to end
NOTE: Always colour change in 1st st i tch of each
round.
START
WITH MC
Rnd 1: Ch20, 2hdc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in each
st to end, 3hdc in last ch, hdc in each st along other
side of ch, 1hdc in same sp as beg 2hdc, join with sl
st.
Rnd 2: Ch3 (counts as 1hdc, ch1) skip next st,
*[1hdc, ch1] in next st, skip next st, rep from * around,
join with sl st.
CHANGE TO CC
Rnd 3: Ch1, *[1hdc, ch1] in ch-sp, rep from * around,
join with sl st.
CHANGE TO MC
Rnd 4: Ch3 (counts as 1hdc, ch1), *[1hdc, ch1] in ch-
sp, rep from * around, join with sl st.
Rep Rnds 3 & 4 until desired length. Finishing with a
MC rnd.
DRAWSTRING RND
Rnd 1: Ch3, dc in each st around, join with sl st.
DECORATIVE EDG E
Rnd 1: Ch1, rev sc around, join with sl st.
Finish, cut yarn and hide ends.
MAKE DRAWSTRING
With CC, make 2 chains approx. 12ins long. With
yarn needle thread each drawstring chain from either
side of bag, through the drawstring rnd, two dc at a
time. Hide yarn ends of drawstring.
