What is STOPiT?

•Smart Topics On Personal iPad Technology

•Mandatory course for students who have violated the RUP/AUP or classroom rules

•Provide additional instruction for users who need further training in the area of responsible student use of online and mobile resources.

Why does CHS have a STOPiT class?

• Hold students accountable

• Teach acceptable technology practices and behavior

• Students may be tech savvy but have not been taught digital citizenship

• Students are connected 24/7

• Support classroom teachers and building principal

Enrollment Process

• Classroom teacher takes student’s iPad and gives to principal

• Principal gives the Student a “STOPiT” ticket

• “Ticket” must be signed by a parent

• Student must attend assigned STOPiT class

What do students do in STOPiT

• Digital Citizenship Curriculum

• 9 Themes of Digital Citizenship by ISTE NETS standards

• Project for each STOPiT participant that will benefit other students

• Projects implement mobile technology with Digital Citizenship

•Participation in activities and lessons about Digital Citizenship

•Learn how to be responsible users of online and mobile resources

•Accountable for misuse and must attend class

•Multiple violations may result in no take-home privileges
