We are pleased to announce that Kauri
Cliffs’ sister lodge will be opening in
November 2007. Located on the North
Island in Hawke’s Bay, one of New Zealand’s
loveliest and most important wine districts, Cape
Kidnappers has a rich history beginning with its
discovery by Captain James Cook in 1769.
The new lodge, or “The Farm” as it is called,
promises to be a five star experience. Cape
Kidnappers is set on a 6,000-acre sheep and cattle
farm, with breathtaking scenery and land that
plunges 800 feet straight in to the sea.
On the exterior, the lodge resembles a cluster of farm
buildings. Local materials are incorporated into
graciously scaled rooms full of natural light and
unexpected treasures. Comfort and ease are at a
premium with each room taking on a character of its
own while harkening back to the rural feeling of a
traditional New Zealand sheep station. Spacious
cottages, each with magnificent views, open to large
porches overlooking a stunning Pacific panorama. The
cottages feature calm colours and materials that
suggest a traditional rural farm yet contain all of the
modern amenities one could wish for.
Critics and golf devotees alike have already fallen in
love with Cape Kidnappers’ links-style golf course -
it has been voted the 27th best golf course in the
world. Now golfers and non-golfers alike will have a
luxurious place to stay while exploring the wonders
of Hawke’s Bay.www.capekidnappers.com

Autumn 2007
...to a distinctly far-reaching first edition of our new
travel magazine. Our eyes turn especially towards
the east as we chart a course by land and sea all
the way to the Pacific by way of India, the Far
East and Australasia.
Let us not dwell on the soaking we have received this
summer, but perhaps it will usher in more clement
conditions this autumn to stir our readers into
planning a weekend break to one of our country’s fine
hotels or for a truly classical city break we showcase
the very best hotels in Italy’s finest cities.
India has become an increasingly popular
destination in recent years. Many airlines now fly to
the major Indian cities and fares have nose-dived
making this immense country of intense colours,
smells and sights one of the most alluring
destinations on the long-haul radar. Our issue takes
a broad look at what’s available from palaces to
small but stylish boutique hotels.
We also feature stories from both Australia
(Bamurru) and New Zealand (Cape Kidnappers) as
well as Myanmar and The Maldives. For the classic
sea adventure we review the ultimate cruise under
sail - Clipper - and note Star Flyer’s new home in
exotic Polynesia.
Whatever your particular passion I hope that our
magazine offers some interesting holiday options
and we look forward to assisting you with your
travel plans.

Roma Firenze
7ItalyItaly
There are few more mouth-watering holiday
propositions than a short break to one of the
great Italian cities of Venice, Florence and
Rome. They offer visitors that sublime mix of breath-
taking architecture with classical Roman temples and
beautiful Baroque churches combined with art
galleries and museums – and sophisticated people
watching as elegant ladies dressed in the latest
Ferragamo glide by. Last but by no means least, Italy
boasts some outstanding restaurants – where you
can relax and enjoy excellent cooking with a glass of
chilled Pinot Grigio or delicious Chianti.
Each of these great cities has its own unique
character, and we thoroughly recommend booking a
longer short break where you combine two cities in
one itinerary. Somehow, the opportunity to see two
contrasting cities in one carefully crafted itinerary
helps to highlight the unique elements of both
destinations and offers a better insight into the
fascinating history of how each has evolved to
become one of the great cities of the world.
Travelling between the cities could not be easier: the
fast and efficient inter-city rail service is relaxing and
hassle free, and if you book with a specialist tour
operator such as Kirker Holidays, your seats are pre-
booked and transfers are included at no extra cost.
The Grand TourExperiencing Italy’s Finest Cities in Style
It's hard to say what you'll find
most breathtaking about the
Eternal City - the arrogant
opulence of the Vatican, the
timelessness of the Forum, the top
speed of a Fiat Bambino, the gory
resonance of the Colosseum, trying
to cross a major intersection, or the
bill for your caffe latte.
Make like the locals and souse
your senses in the glut of
pleasures the city has to offer, from
the grandiose thrill of feeling
centuries of turbulent history under
your feet to the small but potent
intoxication of eating chestnut
gelati on a hot day.
The cultural and historical impact of
Florence is overwhelming. Close up,
however, the city is one of Italy's
most atmospheric and pleasant,
retaining a strong resemblance to
the small late-medieval centre that
contributed so much to the artistic
and political development of Europe.
Its striking buildings, formidable
galleries and treasure-crammed
churches attest to the Florentine
love of display. Even long after it
had set on the political and
economic horizon, Florence upheld
its elegant appearance: its skyline,
all russet rooftops and lofty domes,
is indeed picturesque.
Venezia, La Serenissima, Queen of the Adriatic, city
of canals and palaces...or tawdry sewer alive with
crowds and charlatans? Venice's nature is dual:
water and land, long history and doubtful future, airy
delicacy and dim melancholy. If this precious place
does sink, the world will be the poorer.
For a thousand years the city was one of the most
enduring mercantile sea powers on the face of the
earth. Today the brilliance and influence have long
since faded, leaving a town of tarnished glories, out
of time and out of place, so achingly beautiful it's
hard not to look for the back of the set.

Whatever your priorities, we would always
recommend using a tour operator where they take
responsibility for the smooth running of your
holiday and help you to choose the hotels that
best suit your needs. With specialists such as
Kirker, the Kirker Concierge will include
complimentary tickets to museums such as the
Uffizi Gallery and book private walking tours with
expert local guides and tables at recommended
restaurants.

On Providenciales in the Turks & Caicos
Islands, Grace Bay Club offers a stunning
choice of activities and diversions for its
pampered guests including a European-style spa,
an 18-hole championship golf course (nearby),
water sports, tennis, oceanfront dining at the
acclaimed Anacaona restaurant, and the "hot" new
Lounge on the beach with its exciting tapas and
cocktail menus. With a hallmark of anticipatory
service and satisfaction that sets the resort apart
from many others, Grace Bay Club boasts an
exceptionally high return-guest rate.
Situated on beautiful Grace Bay, noted for its
turquoise waters and powdery white-sand beach,
Grace Bay Club has set the standard on Provo for
personalised service and luxury since its opening in
1993 with the original 21-suite hotel.
In 2001 the acquisition of an adjoining 4-acre plot of
beachfront land heralded the development of 38
suites in four new buildings. Although privately
owned, these sumptuous apartments are managed
by Grace Bay Club, offering a distinctly refined
environment that include 50 foot balconies, for the
use of hotel guests. The four Penthouses offer the
ultimate in spacious living with a master bedroom
with a further 1 or 2 bedrooms. They also feature a
grand glass fronted “ocean view” 100-foot long
balcony, creating the structural equivalent of an
infinity edge. Readers may be interested to know
that the majority of the new villa apartments were
snapped up by former guests to the hotel.

Adults Only versus Families
It is the perennial concern in choosing the right place to stayat the most popular times in the year. In this respect GraceBay Club offers the best of both worlds.
The original 21-suite hotel still maintains an “adults-only” policywhilst the villa suites have been designed very much with familylifestyle in mind. A separate, new pool creates an appropriatefocal point and there is a dedicated children’s club, Kids Town.
The Villas at Grace Bay Club were created to offer a broaderappeal as a family-friendly holiday destination. With that inmind, GBC has developed an eco-programme that ensuresits youngest guests will have an enjoyable and memorableexperience.
While children are participating in the “Kids Town”programme, parents can take advantage of the amenities ofthe adults-only Hotel at Grace Bay and have a romantic, independent interlude safe in the knowledge that theirtreasured ones are engaged in safe, well-supervised andenriching activities.
Turks & Caicos FactfileA British crown colony located southeast of the Bahamas, the Turks and Caicos (or TCI) comprise some 40islands and cays, only eight of them inhabited. The entire population numbers 30,000, although some of thoseare expats, mainly Americans and Britons, who have bought into the thriving real estate market. Travellerscome for superb diving (on the world's third-largest coral reef), sportfishing, and impeccable white-sandbeaches. This isn't just hype; the beaches are magnificent. Nearly 300 square miles of TCI are given over toprotected parkland and wildlife sanctuaries. Launch a boat from the busy marina on Providenciales (Provo) andwithin 10 minutes you can land on a sand-fringed cay whose only residents are iguanas.
“In making our top clients our partners, wedidn’t aim to be the best hotel on the island,we wanted to be the best in the region”
Nikheel Advani, General Manager
Contemporary everyday life is becoming increasingly hectic and
fast paced. The need to unwind and recharge is at the heart of the
Destination Spa concept, mixing simple holiday pleasures with a
more purposeful “wellness” philosophy.
Incorporating the extensive therapy programmes of its sister property in
the Himalayas, the newly opened Shanti Ananda Maurice with its
impressive spa centre has established itself as the definitive retreat on
the chic, sun-drenched tropical island of Mauritius. With “Aman” style
simplicity the boutique resort is nestled in 36 acres of lush grounds in a
spectacular position in the south west of the island. The surroundings -
densely wooded hills - are a welcome deviation from concrete jungles!
The vivid blue green waters off the pristine fine, white sands contain rich
coral beds. It is an idyllic setting for a tropical rebalancing of body and
mind that begins with an individual Ayurvedic assessment which
determines the best balance of diet and treatment.
Shanti Ananda Maurice offers an enticing array of accommodation that
also includes luxury villas with pools, luxury suite villas with pools, and a
presidential villa. However, the most plentiful option, of
which there are only 44, are the junior ocean view
suites and junior beach front suites that are housed
in a series of detached villas with large balconies
that either offer a view of the sea or open up onto
a terrace. Some of the specially designed
bathrooms allow one to indulge in an outdoor
shower in an enclosed courtyard. A separate
dressing room complete with a walk-in closet,
and a dressing table add to the great sense of
space and for those that can’t quite escape
there are plasma TVs, a broadband internet
connection, and DVD on demand.
With consummate dining facilities and an impressive
selection of leisure activities Shanti Ananda Maurice
offers an enticing cure-all.
The Holy Ganges winds a ceremonial path in the valley far below
through what is known as “The Abode of the Gods” whilst in the
mist shrouded, wooded hills above at an altitude of 4,000 feet and
against the even greater backdrop of mighty mountains a few lucky
guests will be absorbing the views and relaxing in style at the world’s
leading spa destination - Ananda in the Himalayas.
Renowned as a “holistic healing sanctuary” one could mistake it for a top-
notch resort, romantic destination or historic property. To get there
requires four and a half hours by train north of Delhi and an hour’s ride
from the train station, climbing and winding up the lower Himalayas. The
resort lies on the Maharajah of Tehri Garhwal’s estate and incorporates
the former Viceroy’s palace (as used by Lord Mountbatten) as well the
newer resort complex all of which is leased from the Maharajah.
Ananda’s sanctuary spreads down the mountain from the Viceregal
Palace through manicured lawns and small temples that are havens for
outdoor yoga, meditation and teas. Mountains and streams, faraway
towns and gathering clouds fill the views from Ananda’s spa, restaurant
and rooms. Even a swim in the pool feels like a glide through the wild.
Ayurveda, a 5000 year old Indian system of healing and health, is at the
heart of Ananda.

The principles of Ayurveda
Ayurveda, a Sanskrit word, is derived from two roots, one meaning life and
the other knowledge. It treats each person individually and as a whole - body,
mind and spirit. Ayurveda aims to enhance life, prevent illness as well as
cure it. In Ayurveda there are three principle "bio-energies" called doshas that
exist in different combinations in everyone.
Most people have a dominant dosha that
determines their body type. Ayurveda
prescriptions - a combination of
treatments, diet, yoga, meditation
and lifestyle changes - rebalance
one’s doshas in accord with their
body type.
13India’s Palace Hotels - Devi Garh
Perched high above the desert
capital of Jodhpur, Umaid
Bhawan Palace is the last of the
great palaces of India and one of the
largest residences in the world – set
amidst 26 acres of lush gardens.
Named after Maharaja Umaid Singh,
grandfather of the present Maharajah
of Jodhpur, this golden-yellow
sandstone monument was conceived
on the grandest possible scale, in the
fashionable Art Deco style of that time.
After 15 years in construction, the
347-room palace was finally
completed in 1943 – and has served
as the principal residence of the
Jodhpur royal family since.
Designed by renowned Edwardian
architect Henry Lanchester, the palace
is a blend of eastern and western
architectural influences. Its majestic
105-foot high cupola is influenced by
the Renaissance, while the towers
draw inspiration from Rajput tradition.
The lavish interiors with gilt furniture
and elegant artwork follow the Art Deco
style, complemented by the exotic
murals of the self-exiled Polish artist
Stefan Norblin.
Guests in the hotel section of the
Palace step into a royal world and
lifestyle equipped with luxurious
amenities. Each of the 64 sumptuous
rooms and suites showcase the Art
Deco style with a distinct ambience.
The Maharani Suite, originally
designed for Umaid Singhs' Maharani,
is dominated by a mural of the
Goddess Kali etched on shining black
glass. All in pink, black, chrome and
mirror, the suite includes spacious
private drawing and dining rooms, a
large balcony with a spectacular view
of the palace gardens and the
Mehrangarh Fort, a dressing room with
a wardrobe, and a bath carved out of a
single piece of pink Italian marble.

One of India's few "boutique" hotels,
Devi Garh, will come as a surprise to
anyone exploring Rajasthan. The
concept of entirely modern interior design
within the framework of a traditional palace is
unique in Rajasthan.
The sensitive design has given life back to what
was a derelict hilltop palace. While from the
outside the weathered quality of ancient stone
has been retained, it belies the glorious
renovation and stylistic innovation within, making
this a truly different, all-suite palace hotel.
The huge suites, which are spread around the
building's five floors, are decorated
predominantly in marble with individual colour
and graphic themes to differentiate one from
the other. The best rooms face east towards
the Aravali Hills, a series of perfect, pyramid
shaped peaks, many of which are studded with
summit top temples.
Panoramic views, proximity to Udaipur, a large
swimming pool, a small spa, superb cuisine
and caring staff make this a must for anyone
visiting Udaipur or the Aravali Hills.
Devi Garh truly is a magical place that is the
ultimate retreat for any aspiring romantic. It is
A SensitiveCombinationTradition and modernity is
dramatically combined at the all-
suite Devi Garh Palace Resort
really a "concept" hotel as everything is done with a
sense of show and theatre combined with impeccable
style and taste. A private candlelit dinner in a Jerokha
overlooking the town is an experience never to be
forgotten and this is offered to all guests who stay a
minimum of three nights.

The diversity of India holds many delights
for the traveller. Indeed it has been
drawing visitors for over 4,000 years. A
multitude of influences has stamped their
particular mark as ancient empires and more
recent colonists have laid claim to a proud nation
that is now rapidly developing as a powerhouse
world economy.
Today’s invader is a rapidly increasing surge of
tourists. Indeed, the dramatic rise in visitors has
created a chronic shortage of quality
accommodation. Therefore, the prudent
traveller to India would be well advised to
make all arrangements well in advance of
their visit.
MAhout is a UK-based company that actively
promotes an extraordinary collection of
privately-owned boutique hotels from the
northern foothills of the Himalayas, through
classic Rajasthan down to the very southern
tropical climes of laid-back Kerala.
MAhout’s Managing Director, Mary-Anne
Denison-Pender, has an intimate knowledge of
the Indian Sub-Continent that stretches over 20
years of living in and travelling to India. She still
makes regular and comprehensive visits thus
enabling MAhout to update their portfolio and
ensure that the properties and experiences
featured are maintained to the high standards
that will impress discerning travellers.
We are pleased to be able to work closely with

SamodeThree Heritage treasures in andaround Jaipur
Ahilya Fort
Lying in the Aravalli Hills, north of Jaipur,
Samode Palace is a magnificent
example of Rajput-Mughal architecture
and boasts some of the finest frescoes and
mirror-work in the state. The owners are very
much involved with the running of the property
and it is their exquisite taste which has
produced some of the most stunning rooms
and suites to be found in any heritage hotel.
The swimming pool is magnificent and the
surrounding village is lovely to stroll around.
Down the road is Samode Bagh, which
comprises excellent tents, situated in
sublime, Mughal-style terraced gardens with
a swimming pool in the central pavilion and a
grass tennis court.
The townhouse of the Samode family,
Samode Haveli, is another gem and lies in
the heart of Jaipur. Again, it is home to some
fabulous frescoes and, with its large gardens,
it is difficult to believe that from this sanctuary
you can stroll out into one of the city's busiest
Of all the heritage hotels of north India - from the
restored manors of rich merchants and courtiers to
the forts of the country's former rulers - none can
compare with the Maharaja of Indore's summer palace at
Ahilya Fort, close to Mandu.
Although the grounds are extensive - a seemingly never-
ending series of lush courtyard gardens - the fort can house
no more than a score of guests in its 14 well-appointed
suites. The rooms, complete with rough-hewn stone walls,
colonial-era furnishings and frothy mosquito nets (a year-
round necessity), offer impressive views over the river and
ramparts. The greatest luxury, however, is the sumptuously
prepared food—a successful fusion of European and Indian
cuisines. Despite the paucity of restaurant options in
Maheshwar, guests needn't fear tiring of dining at the fort:
each meal is served in a different garden.

Those acquainted with the

the coastal backwaters to the hilltop

These small properties, which
also include a private river barge,
are the ultimate in “boutique”

pampered luxury then we would seriously recommend you escape to a Coco Collection
resort in the Maldives.
Situated on the Baa Atoll, thirty minutes from Male, Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu is pure magic.
Reached in style by seaplane, where high above you will marvel at the bird’s eye view of the
turquoise waters, pure white sands and lush tropical vegetation. The resort has 98 beautiful
thatched villas that harmonise with the natural environment - either dotted discreetly among
the swaying palm trees fringed by beaches of white sand , or set on stilts over the crystal-
clear waters of the island’s lagoon. Each of these have a private sundeck overlooking the
house reef and a plunge pool. Two Sunset Villas include the service of a butler. From Coco
Palm Dhuni Kolhu you can visit the nearby Island of Hithadhoo to meet some wonderful local
people, or perhaps treat yourself to the overnight Robinson Crusoe experience... Coco Style.
Opened at the end of 2006, Coco Palm Bodu Hithi is forty minutes by motorcruiser from
Male. This beautiful haven on the North Male Atoll combines the best of Maldivian traditions
with state-of-the-art facilities, including the magnificent infinity pool. The resort’s 100 thatched
villas feature traditionally inspired wood and bamboo interiors, but also
have a distinct contemporary aesthetic that blends perfectly with the
verdant surroundings. The bathrooms are to die for and the
spacious, stylish bedrooms open onto inviting private pools;
and, for each of the Escape Water Villas, a butler is on
hand to attend to your every need.
Both resorts have serene Coco Spas and have some of the
best cuisine served in the Maldives. All in all - very special &

To many people Bali represents
the quintessential island
paradise of the Far East. The
beauty and drama of its landscapes
and the dignity of its people are
fundamental components in a serene
tonic for tropical escapists
Orient-Express Hotels have an
enticing proposition for those tempted
in getting more out of a Bali holiday -
an idyllic beach resort and a hillside
hideaway. Pure white beaches invite
relaxation while the dense tropical
foliage of the volcanoes leads you to
a more spiritual retreat.
The Jimbaran Puri Bali is a simple
and supremely romantic hotel that
occupies a prime position on Jimbaran
Bay, one of Bali’s finest beaches.
Individual luxury cottages and villas with
private gardens promise the luxury of
seclusion and uninterrupted sea views,
beside soft white sands. A new spa
offers a range of tantalising treatments
within beautifully appointed Bali-style
pavilions (Bales) that can accommodate
shared sessions for couples.
In contrast to the beachlife Ubud lies in
the heart of Bali’s central region and is
a haven for arts, crafts, and culture
seekers. Named as a place of healing
or “obat”, Ubud has long since been a
retreat for those seeking peace of mind
and inspiration in the arts. It is here that
you will find Jimbaran Puri Bali’s sister
property, Ubud Hanging Gardens, a
spectacular property of just 38 luxurious
and contemporary villas with dramatic
(heated) infinity pools that hug the
upper reaches of a spectacular hillside
location overlooking the Ayung River.
A stay at one of these resorts would be
magical but both would be inspiring!

The ‘Top End’ of Australia is
a region of climatic
extremes, of spectacular
storm skies and an annual cycle
of environmental rebirth. Each
year the freshwater swamps are
replenished by the flood waters
that emanate from the
escarpment country. The big
rivers swell and break their
banks, the water and the
crocodiles spread across the
plains and water lilies cover the
billabongs. As the year
progresses the waters retreat,
the grasses mellow to gold and
the red dust contrasts with the
brilliant blue of the sky. This
fragile ecosystem remains one of
the world’s most beautiful
wilderness areas and ‘on safari’ a

Orient-Express, a company that operates some
of the world’s finest hotels and trains, has
engaged in some grand projects. Perhaps the
most adventurous involved the acquisition and luxury
refitting of a German Rhine cruiser, its subsequent
transportation half way around the world atop a
container ship and its eventual re-launching into the
estuary of the mighty Ayeryawady (Irrawaddy) in
Myanmar. Today this magnificently appointed vessel
“Road to Mandalay” conducts 3-11 night cruises
between the river ports of Bagan and Mandalay.
Most of the cruises start in Mandalay and will
incorporate Bagan in the itinerary.
After a short stay in the Capital, Yangon, guests are
flown to Mandalay to begin their Cruise, mooring from
time to time to visit places such as Sagaing, famous for
its Silversmiths and as the living centre of the Buddhist
faith in Burma, before continuing on to Bagan to
experience its floodplain peppered with over 2000
temples that are the legacy of a thriving dynasty that
prospered in the area over 400 years ago. A sunset tour
of the temples is an unforgettable experience before
settling into the leisurely river cruise to Mandalay.
“Road to Mandalay” carries just 108 passengers in 56
spacious cabins. Facilities on board include a
restaurant, piano bar, boutique, beauty room, library
and spacious lounge whilst on the observation deck a
swimming pool and sun deck provides, quite simply,
the best views in Myanmar.

The ‘Top End’ of Australia is
a region of climatic
extremes, of spectacular
storm skies and an annual cycle
of environmental rebirth. Each
year the freshwater swamps are
replenished by the flood waters
that emanate from the
escarpment country. The big
rivers swell and break their
banks, the water and the
crocodiles spread across the
plains and water lilies cover the
billabongs. As the year
progresses the waters retreat,
the grasses mellow to gold and
the red dust contrasts with the
brilliant blue of the sky. This
fragile ecosystem remains one of
the world’s most beautiful
wilderness areas and ‘on safari’ a
vast diversity of animals and
birds will be seen.

Orient-Express has taken over the running of the 203 room Hotel
das Cataratas, the only hotel located in the national park and
adjacent to Iguacu Falls, one of the most magnificent natural sights

One day an Irishman, who had been stranded on a
deserted island for over 10 years, saw a speck on the
horizon. He thought to himself, "It's certainly not a
ship." And, as the speck got closer and closer, he
began to rule out the possibilities of a small boat and
even a raft. Suddenly there emerged from the surf a
wet-suited black clad figure. Putting aside the scuba
gear and the top of the wet suit, there stood a drop-
dead gorgeous blonde!
The glamourous blonde strides up to the stunned
Irishman and says to him "Tell me, how long has it
been since you've had a cigarette?"
"Ten years," replies the amazed Irishman. With that,
she reaches over and unzips a waterproofed pocket
on the left sleeve or her wet suit, and pulls out a fresh
pack of cigarettes. He takes one, lights it, and takes a
long drag. "Faith and begorrah," says the man, "that is
so good I'd almost forgotten how great a smoke can
be!" "And how long has it been since you've had a
drop of good Irish whiskey?" asks the blonde.
Trembling, the castaway replies, "Ten years."
Hearing that, the blonde reaches over to her right
sleeve, unzips a pocket there and removes a flask
and hands it to him. He opens the flask and takes a
long drink. "'Tis nectar of the gods!" states the
Irishman. "'Tis truly fantastic!!!"
At this point the gorgeous blonde starts to slowly
unzip the long front of her wet suit, right down the
middle. She looks at the trembling man and asks,
"And how long has it been since you played around?"
With tears in his eyes, the Irishman falls to his knees
and sobs, "Sweet Jesus! Don't tell me you've got golf
clubs in there too!"

year of the great British
Airways lost luggage
fiasco but to be honest
it is a growing problem
as our airports handle
ever increasing
numbers of travellers.
We offer a few
suggestions to improve
the chances of
successful retrieval:
The best way to make sure an airline does not lose your luggage - Carry it on the
airplane with you. (Alternative.- Take along less baggage.)
When you must check in your bags:
1. Place name-and-address tags on the INSIDE and outside of each bag.
(Use a business, not a personal, address)
2. Remove all old baggage-check tags.
3. Place a note inside each bag that tells where you are heading on your trip and
the dates you will be there.
4. Lock your bags. It won't prevent theft (Luggage keys are often interchangeable),
but it will keep a bag from opening accidentally. Disregard for travel to/from USA.
5. Avoid flights during which you change planes and airlines. Reason: Transfers account
for 40% of lost baggage. If this proves impossible, don't check your baggage through
(make arrangements to recheck it between flights).
6. Carry on the plane such items as prescribed medicines, jewellery, your contact-lens
equipment, and any other small, irreplaceable items.
