Tried and proven off-road components coupled with cutting-edge drive technology help the Touareg to make headway on practically every surface – for example, MOTION permanent all-wheel drive as standard or electronically controlled XMOTION all-wheel drive in the “Terrain Tech” Touareg with V� TDI BlueMotion tech nology and �� kW (� bhp)*. tronic damping control result in a unique symbiosis of on and off-road qualities for the

Touareg. In off-road conditions the ground clearance of the vehicle can be raised by up

The Touareg with BlueMotion Technology.

The Touareg can also attain consumption fig -

ures which are anything but conventional in

conjunction with conventional drive concepts.

To this end, the �-cylinder models are equipped

with the BlueMotion Technology package of

measures to significantly increase effi ciency. It

includes a start/stop system which automati-

cally switches the engine off at traffic lights –

and on again as soon as you operate or release

the brake. Tyres with optimised rolling resist-

ance, regenerative braking to reduce strain

on the engine, and intelligent thermal man-

agement for efficient warming up of the

engine further lower fuel consumption and

Volkswagen presents a milestone in drive technology for breathtaking performance

and amazingly low fuel consumption – the Touareg Hybrid*. The basis for this technology

is a V� TSI petrol engine with � kW (�� bhp)*. This is combined with a hybrid mod-

ule with a �.� kW (� bhp)* electric motor. This enables the vehicle to be driven purely

electrically for a range of approx. two kilometres and up to approx. � km/h. The

Touareg Hybrid* is also equipped with a start/stop system, and a coasting function

measures in the Touareg constantly give you a feeling of well-being. These

include effective sound insulation that will let you enjoy your surroundings

highlights designed to relieve strain on the driver and passengers and

pamper them in every way possible.

“Side Assist” lane change assistance system and “Lane

Assist”. It also exclusively has “stop & go” adaptive cruise

control ACC with the “Front Assist” area monitoring system

plus a sensor-controlled emergency braking function.

This emergency braking function can recognise if the

driver does not react in time to a dangerous situation

and then automatically builds up strong brake pressure.

The pro-active occupant protection system tensions the

seat belts electrically if necessary. The system has a func-

tion to brake the vehicle to a standstill if necessary, and

also automatically drive it up to the vehicle ahead to

maintain the set distance. This noticeably relieves the

strain on the driver, particularly in stop and go traffic.

Park distance control at front and rear, and traffic sign

recognition also belong to the package. This uses a cam-

era and can recognise speed limits and corresponding

additional signs. The driver is shown information on the
