Frequently Asked Questions about Siebel CRM & SEA/SIA Repositories January 2012 Is Oracle discontinuing Cross-Industry, a.k.a. Siebel Enterprise Applications? No. Horizontal or cross-industry applications are at the center of the Siebel applications suite. We will continue to ship, enhance, and innovate with our cross-industry Sales, Marketing, Service, Order Management, and other cross-industry products in our future releases on SIA repository. These products are also used as the base for our industry applications. What is changing is a technical aspect of how we support these applications. ________________________________________________________________________ What is Oracle doing with SEA or Siebel Enterprise Applications? We are still shipping our Siebel Enterprise aka Cross-Industry aka Horizontal applications throughout Siebel 8.1.1.5 release. In the future (Siebel 8.1.1.x and 8.2.2.x release), we intend to develop on a single repository (SIA). This does not impact support, development or enhancements of SEA or SIA applications. Traditionally, implementers (partners, IT staff and Oracle specialists) have interchangeably used the term SEA to mean both cross industry applications and the SEA repository. In fact, Siebel Industry Applications (SIA) are a superset of SEA applications and run these applications on the SIA repository as well. So, SEA applications can and do run on the SIA, as well as SEA repositories. ________________________________________________________________________

Frequently Asked Questions about Siebel CRM & SEA/SIA Repositories

Does the SIA repository support SEA applications? Yes. All horizontal and vertical applications are built on exactly the same development code line. The only difference between horizontal and vertical applications is the content of the Siebel repository. The industry or SIA repository is a superset of objects from both horizontal and all industry applications. ________________________________________________________________________ What is the value or customer benefit of this change? By focusing new software development on one repository, Siebel CRM is able to deliver more application, platform, and integration products to our customers. Today, customers who have deployed Siebel CRM on the SEA repository are not able to consume Siebel industry-specific products. By contrast, customers using Siebel CRM on the SIA repository are able to take advantage of all of the horizontal and industry products on the SIA repository. For example, a customer in Call Center who is interested in Siebel Finance or Siebel Manufacturing products/modules could buy and deploy these applications if they’re on SIA repository. This shift to a single repository provides customers with broader set of software choices—especially beneficial for the many Siebel customers with diverse business interests that defy conventional industry classification. ________________________________________________________________________ What are Siebel CRM’s plans for Industry and Cross-Industry Applications? Siebel CRM has shipped Siebel CRM 8.1.1 and 8.2.2 to the market:

8.1 Release

Siebel Business Applications Release 8.1 was made Generally Available in November 2008 (version SIA 8.1.1). This product is based on the Siebel Industry Applications (SIA) repository.

As of SIA 8.1.1, Siebel formally retired the Siebel Enterprise Applications (SEA) (variously referred to as ‘Cross-Industry Applications’, ‘Horizontal’ and ‘HOR’) repository. The SIA repository is a complete superset of the SEA repository. This change was made to reduce duplication in the development process, reduce costs associated with supporting two repositories, and simplify the implementation and upgrade process. A version of SEA 8.1.1 was made available in February 2009 to facilitate customers’ migration from existing SEA implementations to SIA.

8.2 Release

Siebel Business Application Release 8.2 was made Generally Available in October 2011. This product is based on the Siebel Industry Applications (SIA) repository. It is primarily targeted to Public Sector and Loyalty for Retail, Travel and Transportation customers.

To adopt any 8.1.1.x or 8.2.2.x release, Cross-Industry Application (i.e. SEA) customers will need to upgrade to a comparable industry-based offering. Oracle Siebel’s industry-based offerings deliver robust capability comparable to SEA as well as the advantages of easier uptake of new Siebel CRM products. Cross-Industry functionality is available in every industry specific product line so customers have the ability to upgrade to their choice of industry application. Since SIA repository is a superset of SEA and SIA objects, customers will be able to benefit from a broader set of features and functionality. Siebel CRM 8.1.1.x Quick Fix Support Plan

No. Customers on either repository can buy cross-industry applications such as Siebel CRM Base. Industry-specific applications only run on SIA, and can be purchased at additional cost if desired by customers who have deployed on the SIA repository.

Customers on the SIA repository have the ability to deploy a broader set of industry applications and modules. Customers may elect to buy these industry applications for an additional license fee, as suits their needs. ________________________________________________________________________

What does this mean for NEW customers?

Depending on business requirements, new customers should ensure that their IT staff or systems integrators download the main version of the product as they begin their deployment: Siebel Business Applications Release 8.1.1 or Siebel Business Applications Release 8.2.2 __________________________________________________________________________

What does this mean for EXISTING customers?

Customers should consider moving to the SIA repository during their upgrade. Siebel 8.1.1.7 FP will be the last release that provides both SEA and SIA repositories. The SEA repository support on Siebel 8.1.1.x release will be available through May 2012. SEA customers should start to plan out SEA to SIA repository migration as early as possible in order to uptake future Siebel releases in post 8.1.1.7 FP. Regarding upgrade paths to move from SEA to SIA repository, refer to Technical Guidance document (Doc ID 549362.1) on My Oracle Support site. __________________________________________________________________________
