PREPARATION

A. ROLL TARP DOWN and let it hang loose from latch plate. At front of roll tube, remove existing bunji cord system (frominside tube) and bunji corner guide (or eyebolt) attached at end of latch plate. Then drill out existing rivet holding tarp to roll tube(7/32” bit).

B. AT REAR OF TARP, remove crank handle, spline adaptor and if there, bunji cord. Then drill out tarp rivet at this end. Partsremoved are not needed for this conversion kit.

IMPORTANT:➢ Before starting installation, inspect existing tarp fitment. When tarp is closed, there must be 5 inches of clear-

ance between edge of tarp and edge of end cap at front and rear. If not, a replacement tarp or modify existingtarp is required.

➢ When converting existing EZ-LOC hand operated tarp to AutoLock Electric, due to various box shapes, it maybe necessary to make field modifications and adjustments to install this kit.

A. FIRST MEASURE DISTANCEfrom edge of tarp to end of roll tube andrecord that dimension in inches here=______________”.

B. INSERT SPLICE TUBE in rolltube until extension is butted against rolltube. If needed, slide entire roll tube outenough to allow room for drilling holesas shown. Drill 1/4” inch holes spacedas shown. Follow with a 1/2” bit tomake a counter sink for the rivet. Insertdrive rivet, fully seat it and set withhammer. (Optional: In place of riveting,plug each hole with aluminum weld.)

C. SLIDE ROLL TUBE forwarduntil edge of tarp measures samedistance (inches) from end of rollextension as recorded in A above. Pullslack from tarp, use existing tarp rivethole as guide to drill new hole (7/32 bit)for replacement tarp rivet. Install driverivet, fully seat it and set with hammer.Repeat riveting procedure at front oftarp.

A. TIE SQUARE KNOT(leave it loose) in one end ofdrive cord. Insert loose knotinto groove on roll tube.

B. SLIDE KNOT over and pulltight. Then wrap drive line cordaround tube always towards boxwall from outside going inward,toward tarp.

C. WRAP DRIVELINE CORD 15 fullwraps and let excess hangdown. Slide cord over 1”away from tarp.

B. MEASURE BACK 1” from edge of drive cartridgeand mark a mark on roll tube. This is where excess roll tubewill need to be cut off so motor/arms can be installed squarewith tube and pivot mount in later step. Lower motor andarms back down. Set motor of to side. Cut off excess tube onmark.

A. LIFT MOTOR UP and slide it over the lower pivotarm. Raise pivot arms and motor up against roll tube andhold there at 90 degrees square with roll tube as shown.

B. DUAL POLE CONNECTOR will mount tobrace leg of pivot anchor assembly. First, feed heavygauge wire through large opening in brace. Connectheavy wires to socket using eyelets and heat shrinkseal. Then mount socket housing to leg brace usingtwo hex head bolts with nuts and washers. Fig. 17.

D. SWITCH LOCATION AND INSTALLATIONSelect convenient location in cab to mount switch bracket withtwo self drilling screws through slots in back of bracket.

Route 14 ga. wire from switch to location of solenoid atbattery. Rubber grommet is supplied for area where wire enterscab, 11/16” hole is needed for grommet.

At switch, strip 14 ga. wire ends about 3/8” back and attachpush-on connectors and crimp. Pull wires through mountbracket and attach to switch. Push switch into mount bracketuntil it snaps (locks) onto bracket. Fig. 18.

ALWAYS OPEN TARP BEFORE DUMPING LOAD ■ Always use adequate caution when operating tarp.

■ Make sure tarp is open before unloading or loading.

■ Make sure nobody is on or near tarping system before and during operation.

■ Do not operate tarp with box hoisted in an elevated position.

■ If tarp is covered with snow, its removal is important before operating.

■ End caps must be free from grain that may be piled on them. Grain should not be heaped higher than end caps.

■ Do not operate this vehicle at highway speeds, while tarp system is in the “open” position.

■ Instruct everyone who will operate this tarp the correct procedures of doing so, or have them read this entire manual.

SAFETY INFORMATION

1: CLOSING TARP FROM OPEN POSITION

Turn switch to the CLOSED position and hold. Visually view tarp position and release switch when tarp is fully closed - fully closedis when tarp roll tube is tight up under latch plate.

2: OPENING TARP FROM CLOSED POSITION

Turn switch to the OPEN position and hold. Visually view tarp position and release switch just before tarp is fully open - fully open iswhen tarp roll touches tarp stops. TOO TIGHT in open position could cause damage to tarp stops, tubes and tarp.

NOTE: Electric tarp system is equipped with an automatic circuit breaker. Holding switch until circuit breaker trips is too long.To reduce unnecessary strain on tarp components, always release switch before circuit breaker trips.

Agri-Cover Inc.’s sole obligation under this warran-ty or any implied warranty is limited to the repair or replacement at its option, of defective parts only.
