Information Management

Capabilities • Thales solutions connect multiple sources of information so that air

crews, operational bases and agencies get a joint view of the operational environment enabling better informed decision making in each phase of the mission lifecycle.

• Automatic integration of multiple live aeronautical, tasking and intelligence feeds with static environment data to provide a near real-time, dynamic and integrated operational picture on a wide area secure network.

• A modular approach to building information management solutions enables customisation to meet customers specifi c needs and requirements.

• The core framework underpinning every solution provides secure interfacing, management, and near real-time dissemination and visualisation of multiple information sources, ensuring that you have all the information you need for critical decision making.

• Plug and fl y, the core framework also provides a secure environment to host platform and mission specifi c applications from Thales and third party suppliers.

• Information sources include data preparation tools, aircraft route and sensor planning, communications and store planning, crew briefi ng, debriefi ng and post mission analysis. Automated Alerts for intelligence, route, area, obstruction, NOTAMS and confl icts provide improved awareness and reduced workload. Alerts can be delivered in-cockpit, via HF radio or SATCOMMS.

• For dissemination and display of data IMS: WebS2AT provides an enhanced situation awareness capability by presenting vital C4 ISR information to aid decision making

Applications• End to end information management and exploitation systems in support

of all Aviation Operations

Capabilities • D101W is primarily used on helicopters to provide accurate measurements of

lateral, longitudinal and vertical velocity. • It provides reversionary and independent navigation, useful for maritime

operations where it is not possible to rely on ground-based beacons or on standard GPS signals.

• D101W projects 4 microwave beams onto the terrain below. The motion of the aircraft creates Doppler shift on the beams from which the sensor computes velocity.

• These outputs connect to Flight Management Systems to allow calculation of Latitude/Longitude position (when combined with a stabilised heading reference), and to an Automatic Flight Control System (AFCS) for hover-hold control.

• Thales has over 50 years of experience in the development and manufacture of Doppler Velocity Sensors (DVS) and supplies the majority of platforms and 0EMs across the world.

Applications • Thales DVS are installed on a wide range of platforms including Bell 412,

Chinook, Harrier, Islander, Jaguar, Jetstream, Lynx, Merlin/EH101, PUMA, Sea King, Sikorsky SH60, Super Lynx 300, Super Puma, Super Tiger, Tornado

Introduction to Services• Thales service solutions are categorised in three core offers:

• Operational Services• Support to Customer Operations• Equipment and System Support

• Our goal is to provide our customers with access to our products and systems in ways that meet their needs. Often this is a simple sale, but more and more this is through commercial and fi nancial arrangements, to manage risk or spread cost.

• In today’s economy and market trends, our customers are looking to industry to take responsibility of non-core operations. Thales can provide everything from simple spares & logistics provision, to full design, build and operate solutions.

• Our pedigree in these solutions run through our entire history, moving with the times and transforming to meet the change in customer needs.

Operational Services• Thales has a history of operating our customers systems and capabilities

that are non-core to their strategy and operations. The transfer of new and existing systems to Thales for management and maintenance spreads the cost of ownership, along with the risk. This is often known as outsourcing.

• We can offer a range of commercial and fi nancial arrangements to allow our products and systems to be leased – referred to as “pay as you go”

• Our core Service Solutions are: • Design, build, operate and maintain• Outsourcing / Total Force Support• Fleet and asset management• Information management

• Examples of Operational Services are: • Hermes 450 to the UK Army – this provides air surveillance of confl icts

zones using unmanned air platforms and associated sensors owned and operated by Thales.

• Voyager to UK Air Force – this provides all aspects of an integrated aircraft service over a 24-year period, ranging from the provision of the infrastructure and a full-fl ight crew and engineer training service, to aircraft maintenance, despatch and ground support.
