Volume 8 Issue 5
The North Canton Chamber team enjoyed a truly wonderful August connecting with the Green and Lake Chamber members at MAPS and with the community at the 20th Annual Main Street Festival. In addition we participated in Hall of Fame week activities and helped cut the ribbon at a new business on Main Street. I'd like to sincerely thank all our volunteers, board members, sponsors, partners, my counterparts at Green and Lake, participants and attendees at these events for their support. Connections are a priority with us and I encourage you to continue your networking by attending our QC Luncheon and Brews and more After Five events in September.
Mobile Storyteller Hits the RoadMobile Storyteller Hits the RoadMobile Storyteller Hits the RoadMobile Storyteller Hits the Road The North Canton Chamber has a long history with ncTV11. We partner on the Main Street Exchange pro- gram and the NCVotes candidate series and have had the pleasure of watching several classes of Hoover students gain experience under the leadership of Tom Wilson and his team. A new chapter for the Media and Video Journalism program begins with the arrival of the Mobile Storyteller, a 40-foot production vehicle featuring a video control room, editing equipment, work spaces and seating for 21. The mobile classroom was funded by local foundation grants, equipment donations and a national State Farm Youth Advisory Board grant, presented locally by Agent Jane Nicholson. Congratulations to TV11 on another accomplish- ment! Shown below (middle) are NCCS Board members touring the Storyteller and below (right) is Jane Nicholson addressing the Board of Education at the official dedication event August 17.
Saying Hello and Good ByeSaying Hello and Good ByeSaying Hello and Good ByeSaying Hello and Good Bye • The Chamber welcomes North Canton City Schools Superintendent Jeff Wendorf to the board. In his previous capacity as Lake Superintendent he worked closely with the Lake Chamber, including service as its board chair. We are happy that Jeff has joined the list of NCCS representatives providing input and helping us achieve our goals of advancing
community and uniting business. • We note the retirement of NC Director of Economic Development Eric Bowles (below left with his wife Anne). I worked with Eric while on City
Council and upon taking the Chamber president's job in 2009 and appreciated his support and diligence. All of us at the Chamber wish him an enjoyable, well-
deserved retirement. • Green Area Cham- ber President Lori Howerton (center right) has taken a new position and is leaving the Chamber in September. As with Eric, it has been a pleasure to work with her on projects of mutual interest and we wish her well...hoping she will "grow" in her new job. (Sorry Lori, I couldn't resist :)

The Ohio BWC has provided a grace period for businesses that did not meet the August 15 "True-Up" deadline. Businesses will now have until September 29 to complete the forms. Not completing this process can be very
costly and penalties include: removal from current discount programs such as group rating/group retrospective rating/one claim program, denial from enroll- ment in future discount programs and/or ineligibility for refunds due from prior year programs. The process can be started by going to http://www.bwc.ohio.gov and logging on with your user ID and password. If you don’t have one, you will need to create one by simply following the directions located near the top right- hand corner of the BWC’s home page. If your company uses a payroll company or vendor, you will need to contact them immediately to verify that they are completing this task for you. BWC has put together a short video demonstrating how to complete your payroll true-up. To view the video click on the following link https://youtube/dmYEtuGLEnQ. If you cannot complete the process online, you can call BWC directly at 1-800-644-6292 and ask for a BWC representative. You will need to call as soon as possible as wait times may be long.
