Dear All,

“We must become the change we seek in the world” - M. K. Gandhi

Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments. Believe in yourself and have faith in your abilities. Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own power, you cannot be successful or happy. Be positive! Think only the best and be enthusiastic about your success.

I wish you the best in all your endeavours!

Best wishes!

Let’s put all our best efforts to enhance the brand awareness of NTTF through this powerful social networking media.

It is my pleasure to release this edition with glimpses of events that happened across our centres, informative articles, awards & accolades, useful thoughts from faculty and programs conducted, with picture gallery, which I hope would help all our readers to know more about NTTF and its people.

We hope you will enjoy reading this edition of our ‘Innovator’ and will continue to give your valuable inputs to enrich the content of this quarterly magazine.

Wishing you all a Happy and prosperous New Year!

Today’s youth understands the world not only through books and assignments; they learn and adapt by using a comparatively new form of communication. They readily accept technology and consider technology to be part of their lives. Young people across the globe and particularly in growing economies like India are spending more and more time on social networking websites. The trend is not limited to metros only, but in a big way has spread out to the non-metros too.

Researches state that 3/4th of students trust advice from friends online; this is thrice the trust vis-à-vis traditional media. One in every three Internet users refers to user-generated content to help make educational decisions. Social media has overcome the distance barrier for learning.

The usage of social media gives the aspirants, especially in the tier 2 cities, a lot of flexibility, variety and connectivity which is easy to use and is free of cost. It allows these aspiring students not just to gather information but also to indulge in discussion and find relevant feedback. It encourages a two way communication between the institute/ex student/experts and the individual seeking admission.

Similar information and connectivity assists’ a student when he is on the lookout for a career opportunity. Social networks not just maintain a student’s brand image but they also make him more marketable. Over 70% of the corporate are hiring via social media today, therefore having a good online profile is of utmost importance!

The emergence of social networks has pushed the limits for the employers and made it easy for them to reach talent in the Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

Not just peers, but students also connect to seniors and faculty members to get a heads upon how to tackle the first few days at a new place. Orkut communities and Facebook groups are a great way for students to collaborate and know each other. They are also a great way to connect diverse groups of students who are preparing for common entrance exams like CAT, JEE, AIEEE, MAT, GRE, GMAT etc. Social media networks like YouTube, Facebook and Twitter are being successfully used to impart education and to provide a collaborative platform for students, academicians and industry people. They can be used to share photos, videos, and almost

all types of multimedia content so that the members can involve, create, discuss, promote and measure their social media campaigns.

Social Media has created an amazing opportunity for companies to connect to their customers and engage them so that they are more inclined to buy their products or services. In addition to corporate, many educational institutes have started recognizing the potential of social mediator each and engage their students and stimulate their curiosity to learn.

In spite of the rising concerns about the negative effects of being social on the internet especially among the student community, it is quite clear that social media is here to stay and therefore the key challenge in front of educational institutions in particular and society at large is to convert this ‘threat’ into an opportunity and use the same medium to reach and engage the students in fruitful learning.

This article helps to assist teachers and parents with the best possible approaches to dealing with students who exhibit emotional & behavioral problems. Of all the types of behavior which exist in students, passive & aggressive behavior are typically responsible for driving teachers to their wit’s end.

Lets us see how and why this behavior escalates and look at ways and means to deal effectively with it.

The first time when a teacher interacts with a student, the teacher does not understand why the student is so frustrated .Once the teacher starts to recognize the manipulative behavior it will be possible to help the student to change his/her behavior.

CHARACTERISTICS OF MANIPULATIVE STUDENTS

1 .Passive listening

2. Purposeful forgetting

3. Frequently out of seat

4. Constant complaints

5. Moving very slowly when ask to complete the task

New Sheet Metal 3D Forming Process Can Reduce Prototype Delivery Time from 6 Months to 3 Days

How do you stamp out prototype sheet metal parts without “stamping” them in a single blow - and without a die to boot? No, it’s not a Zen riddle. It’s a question that Ford engineers have been working on for a while, and now they think they have the answer.

Ford Freeform Fabrication Technology (F3T) is the company’s new, highly flexible, first-of-its-kind, patented technology to rapidly form sheet metal parts for low-volume (think prototyping) production applications. Once fully developed, the technology will allow for lower costs and ultrafast delivery times for prototypes -- within three business days versus conventional methods that take anywhere from two to six months.

Developed at the Ford Research and Innovation Center, the process starts with the F3T machine, which features an upper and a lower “stylus,” each mounted on its own hexapod. CAD data of the desired part is sent to the machine, just like you would send to a digital printer. A piece of sheet metal is clamped around its edges to the machine’s frame. The part is then formed into a 3D shape by the two stylus-type tools working in unison on opposite sides of the sheet metal blank -- they literally push the part into being by making “written” pressured paths from opposite sides. The final shape includes the required dimensional tolerances and surface finish.

SEEKING ATTENTION AND EXPRESSING ANGER The students deal with their anger and frustration, by eliciting these feelings in others.

BEHAVIOURAL REASONS Appropriate behavior is not reinforced in these students

They lack self esteem – they under estimate their potential and lack the necessary skills to elicit positive attention

They are not taught ways of gaining attention from others.

They have learnt that attention of others is to be sought by annoying and provoking them

How to deal with this behaviour..

BEHAVIOURAL INTERVENTION The students should be given an opportunity to talk about the feelings so that their self-esteem gets reinforced.

A list of behavioral traits which are annoying to be prepared and then alternate behavioral patterns which are acceptable should be outlined.

Positive reinforcement - This helps students to enhance their self esteem and change the their perception about themselves

Modeling – This helps them to learn new behavior from others

Cooperative learning - This gives them an opportunity to learn from their peers

Self monitoring - This helps them to assume more responsibility for their behavior
