Boeing Business Jets receives orders for four new BBJ MAX 8s

Boeing Business Jets has received orders for four new BBJ MAX 8 airplanes at the National Business Aviation Association Convention and Exhibition in Las vegas. The first order to an undisclosed custom-er based in the Middle East is for three BBJ MAX 8s. easyJet orders an additional 36 A320 Family aircraft

easyJet has signed a firm order for a further 36 A320 Family aircraft taking its cumulative order for the type to 451. The agreement for six A320ceos and 30 A320neos makes easyJet one of the world’s biggest airline customers for the A320ceo Family with 321 ordered and also for the A320neo with 130 on order. Embraer releases 10-year market outlook for business aviation

Embraer Executive Jets released its 10-year mar-ket outlook for business aviation at the National Business Aviation Association Convention and Ex-hibition in Las vegas, Nv. The Company forecasts a global demand of 9,100 new business jets, worth US$259bn. This is the total market opportunity to be serviced by all manufacturers and represents a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 3% per year over the next 10 years. The analysis fore-sees that demand is likely to exceed the last dec-ade’s deliveries and market value, when approxi-mately 8,190 business jets were delivered, worth US$198bn. The new deliveries forecast reflects a higher potential demand coming from the US market as well as a reduction in the demand from emerging markets. The small and medium jet seg-ments are expected to represent the majority of the market, with nearly two thirds of the total de-liveries benefiting mostly from the opportunities out of the North American and European markets.

Embraer Executive Jets increases Legacy 450 range to 2,900nm

Embraer Executive Jets will extend the range of the Legacy 450, its new mid-light business jet, to 2,900 nm (5,371 km). This represents an increase of 325 nm (602 km) over the range of the recently certified aircraft. The extended range will enable nonstop flights from San Francisco to Hawaii, New York to Los Angeles, Riyadh to Cannes or Shanghai to Jakarta. The first Legacy 450 with the additional range is expected to be delivered in the third quar-ter of 2016. To reach the new range, there will be some minor modifications to the wing to allow it to accommodate more fuel. Modifications will also encompass updates to the Fuel Control Unit (FCU), avionics and aircraft flight manuals. The increased

range will be retrofittable for the first aircraft serial numbers assembled without this extra fuel tank capacity.

HondaJet nears Federal Aviation Adminis-tration Type Certification

Honda Aircraft Company has completed all func-tion and reliability (F&R) test conditions and is concluding F&R flights for the HondaJet. The an-nouncement was part of a program update shared at the National Business Aviation Association Con-vention and Exhibition, which is being held in Las vegas from Nov. 17th to 19th. Function and reli-ability testing simulates typical in-service flight op-erations for a new aircraft design. Testing includes takeoffs, landings, system operations, failure cases, approaches, and operations in hot, cold, and hu-mid environments. This ensures the aircraft, in-cluding its components and equipment, is reliable and functioning properly. The HondaJet has flown missions to 54 airports in 31 states in the continen-tal United States as part of F&R testing. In October,

Honda Aircraft completed all Part 23 certification flight testing. The flight test program has exceeded 3,000 total flight hours and testing was conducted at more than 70 locations in the U.S.

Lufthansa Technik has successfully completed 16g certification testing for ‘chair’

Lufthansa Technik AG’s new seating concept, ‘chair’, has passed all 16g and 9g certification tests for for-ward and aft facing installations. This certification allows owners, operators, and designers to choose from thousands of possible ‘chair’ configurations to match the need of a particular cabin environ-ment. The ETSO (European Technical Standard Or-ders) / TSO (Technical Standard Orders) certificate is in process and will be issued over the next few months. The ‘chair’ is based on an innovative ped-estal design upon which is mounted a baseline core skeleton or structure. This certified pedestal and structure is intentionally left incomplete, allowing designers to create a ‘chair’ to meet the particular needs of a particular cabin – dining room, video lounge, office, bedroom, etc. Not only the height, width, and depth, but also the overall “look-and-feel” can be configured. The shape, upholstery, and padding can be selected to allow for an uncompro-mised interior design under one certification. An in-novative certification process allows the Lufthansa Technik experts to validate changes to the ‘chair’

Frankfurt Airport (FRA) welcomed 5.7 million pas-sengers in the reporting month – growing by a no-ticeable 4.3% and setting a new October record. In comparison, the 2014 October statistics were influenced by Lufthansa’s two-day pilot strike. This was also reflected in October 2015 by the growth rates registered for aircraft movements and ac-cumulated maximum takeoff weights (MTOWs). Aircraft movements advanced by 1.5% to 42,572 takeoffs and landings. MTOWs grew by 2.8% to set a new record of some 2.7 million metric tons. FRA’s cargo throughput (airfreight + airmail) fell by 1.5% to 185,222 metric tons. Fraport AG’s inter-national airport portfolio achieved mainly positive results for passenger traffic in October 2015. Lju-bljana Airport (LJU) in Slovenia greeted 128,478 passengers, representing a significant 9.4% traf-fic surge compared to the same month last year. Serving 1.6 million passengers, Lima Airport (LIM) in the capital of Peru recorded strong growth of 11.7%. The Bulgarian Black Sea airports of varna (vAR) and Burgas (BOJ) saw traffic rise by 10.5% to 86,290 passengers. Antalya Airport (AYT) on the Turkish Riviera experienced a slight 0.8% drop in traffic to 2.8 million passengers. St Petersburg’s Pulkovo Airport (LED) in Russia declined by 5.1% to 1.1 million passengers, due to the weak domes-tic economy. At Hanover Airport (HAJ) in north-ern Germany, traffic climbed by 1.8% to 581,355 passengers. Traffic figures at Xi’an Airport (XIY) in

The company will install Honeywell’s JetWave fuselage-mounted antenna (MCS-8200) to support the Ka-Band satellite communications (Satcom) system. Ka-Band connectivity enables one of the highest data transfer speeds avail-able in the industry while further supporting the growth in data expected to occur over the coming decades. Jet Aviation Basel will develop a Ka-Band supplemental type certificate (STC) for the B747-400 and install the Ka-Band system with Honey-well’s high-speed Satcom hardware and the Jet-WaveTM MCS-8200 fuselage-mounted antenna. The Ka-Band SCS will ultimately interface with the existing local area network (LAN) on the aircraft.

Constant Aviation has announced that they have been awarded an eight aircraft WiFi installation project by Georgia Jet. “Constant Aviation will be installing the Gogo Biz 2000 system on eight aircraft operated by Georgia Jet. The installation on the six Beechjet 400A/XP’s and two Hawker 800XP’s will begin in January 2106. We are among the top five Gogo dealers in the country and own over ten WiFi STC’s. Connectivity while traveling has become a necessity, no longer just an amen-ity,” said Jay Rizzo, vice President Sales.

To better represent its expanded offerings be-yond satellite communications solutions, Satcom Direct has changed its brand identity to SD. The move stems from the company’s ongoing tech-nology advancements and strategic partnerships, which have broadened its capabilities as a global connectivity provider. In addition to SATCOM, SD offers secured network capabilities, air-to-ground solutions, and value-added services to make those networks faster, more efficient and more secure. The company name will remain Satcom Direct, while using the “SD” mark and initials to represent its evolution as a company.
