He was the son of Henry Pleasant and Eliza J. Woodward. He was born in 1876 and died on April 6, 1959. He was one of eight children. He had three brothers and three half- brothers and a half-sister, with whom he lived. They were James C., Clarence, George H., and half-brothers Wiley C., John W., and Herbert S. His half-sister was Ilma, who married Mr. T.V. Walton. Mr. S.L. Woodward was in the Spanish American War and World War 1. He enlisted on August 25, 1902 for three years. He was discharged on August 24, 1905. While in the army, he served in the Philippine Islands. In 1900, he was stationed at Zamboonga. In 1910, he had made first sergeant and was at Fort William McKinley, Rizal. In 1920, he was back in the states stationed in St. Louis, Missouri. He must have been in the army about twenty five years. He went in the army as a pvt. and came out a captain. His service was held at the Pearl Webb Cemetery under the direction of Williams, Miller, and Sego Funeral Home. He is buried in the Pearl Webb Cemetery with many of his family members. 1 Major S.L. Woodward's Tombstone Mr. Simmy Louis Russell Mr. Simmy Louis Russell was born September 29, 1893 in Hart County to Mr. Abraham (Abb) W.S. and Hattie Gilmore (Brooks) Russell, both born in Green County, Kentucky. He was one of eight children: Nora, Wallie, Nell, . Ernest, Kenneth L., Carry, and Mary B. Mary B. married Mr. Fred Davis and lived in Canmer. She worked for Pioneer Bank as a bookkeeper. He signed his draft card on January 5, 1917 to serve in World War I. He was in training at Camp Taylor from September 1917 to March 1918, when he sailed overseas to France. He wrote home that they were worn and weary, but with such officers and men we shall someday get the Huns. He was operating a machine gun, when he was hit and killed on August 8, 1918 on Chateau-Thierry front. He was survived by his mother, four sisters, and one brother, who was on the D.S.S. Florida. His body was returned

Mr. Samuel Lee Woodard

Mr. Samuel Lee Woodward was amember of a pioneer family of HartCounty. He was the son of HenryPleasant and Eliza J. Woodward. Hewas born in 1876 and died on April 6,1959. Soissons is a little North of Paris.
