Business Professionals of AmericaMission: To contribute to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, and technological skills.
CERTIFICATION:Microsoft Office Specialist in Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, Access. Quicken Books.
LOCAL COMPETENCY PROFILE: “Local Competency Profile” is awarded to
students with 90 % attendance and an 85%
objective attainment at the sum of the course.
CONCURRENT CREDIT: Dual Credit courses are conducted through El
Paso Community College (EPCC) that is aligned
with the Bachelors of Arts in Accounting and is
aligned with the University of Texas El Paso (UTEP).
The intent of the program is for the students
enrolled to start taking dual credit courses as
soon as they can qualify which the earliest is in
the ninth grade.
*Students will be working towards an
Accounting, Business, and Economics
Associate of Arts degree thru EPCC. Students
will need to qualify for dual credit prior to
initiating their concurrent credit course work.
Business AcademySparta Business Academy (SBA) will be accepting district enrollment for the 2016-2017 school year for freshman students. The application is competitive and the academy will accept no more than 125 students per year. The academy will focus on providing students with dual credit courses toward the Associates degree in Business Management, Accounting, & Finance. The focus on accounting requires students to have a strong math and numbers background.
Students enrolled in the Sparta Academy will be working towards the Associates in Accounting, Business, and Economics degree through EPCC. Students who intend to work in the field of Accounting will require a Bachelors with a Masters preferred. Our students will have a head start as they may have already achieved an Associates Degree prior to leaving high school. They will be able to seamlessly transition into the Bachelors in Accounting through UTEP.
Business & Industry / Business ManagementThis four year plan is intended to give you and your parent(s) a guide to use as you progress through high school. Please review your plan each year to ensure you are taking the required courses for graduation. You will create your own personal Texas Achievement Plan using the CCRP from which you, your parents and your counselor will sign. If you decide to change your TAP, you will need to present your new TAP to your counselor and parent for signatures. ccrp.sisd.net.
Benefits of AcademyStudents in the academy will have the opportunity to serve as student representatives on the Federal Reserve’s Advisory Board, they will also be placed in Business internships, externships, and Job Shadowing positions. Students will also travel to visit top business schools in Texas to include Texas Tech and U.T. Austin.
SBA students will be leaders on campus in preparation for becoming leaders in business.
