The purpose of the interview is to verify that the candidate possesses the required experience, skills and competence required from a Chartered member. What will the interview involve? The Peer Review Interview will involve you delivering a 10 minute PowerPoint Presentation followed by the panel asking you a series of health and safety based questions. How long does the interview last? The Peer Review Interview will last approximately one hour. When can I book my Peer Review interview? Once you have passed your CPD audit you can contact our Bookings team on +44 (0) 116 257 3197 to arrange your interview date. Once booked on, you will receive a confirmation email. Where can I attend my Peer Review interview? The Peer Review interviews take place throughout England, Scotland and Wales. Most interviews are conducted at the Grange in Leicester (Midlands) We also offer online interviews for our International members, these interviews take place through our online system Zoom. How much does it cost to book my Peer Review interview? The cost to book at the Grange in Leicester is £80.00 this price also applies to our International members completing an online interview. The cost for interviews outside of the Grange is £95.00 How many people will be interviewing me? The interview panel consists of 1 Chair and 2 panel members. Often there is also a Trainee panel member who is observing the process with the view of become an IOSH panel member. There will also be an IOSH representative in the room administrating the interviews. Will the panel be in the same industry as me? It is very unlikely that the panel members will be from the same industry as you. All panel members are trained to the same standard. As the interview questions focus on general health and safety topic areas, it is not necessary for the panel to be in the same industry as the candidate.

What is the Peer Review Interview?

The Peer Review Interview is the final stage of the IPD process.

The purpose of the interview is to verify that the candidate possesses the required

What will the interview involve?

What questions will I be asked in the interview and will I receive example questions?

The interview questions are not issued out to our members prior to the interview.

We will ask our members to ensure that they make themselves familiar with the IOSH

code of conduct and the 4 key areas within the code prior to their interview.

The interview questions are designed to assess your general health and safety

knowledge, skills and experience in core subject areas.

What happens before the interview day?

Four weeks before your interview we will ask you to submit your presentation slides

and record of employment form to [email protected]

Two weeks before your interview date a member of the team will call you to confirm

your attendance and explain the interview format to you.

What will my presentation be about?

Your interview presentation is about you and should include the following;

o Your Career history

o Your key qualifications and achievements

o An overview of your current role & responsibilities

o Your challenges

o Your future career and/or Development objectives

A sample presentation will be provided to you once you have booked your interview

date.

The presentation is limited to 10 minutes so please keep your slides concise.

How much experience needs to be added to my Record of employment?

We recommend that you add your last 5 years’ experience to the record of

employment form. We only need you to record details of your health and safety

experience.

Do I have to complete a Peer Review interview?

All members who wish to be awarded Chartered status will need to attend and pass a

Peer Review interview.

When will I receive the results to the interview?

You will be informed of your result in writing within 21 working days.

What happens if I Pass the Peer Review Interview?

If you pass the interview then you will be automatically transferred to Chartered

status.

A Chartered logo with guidance on its use will be emailed to you.

A chartered certificate and badge will be posted to you.

You can begin using the Post-Nominals CMIOSH.

What happens if I fail the Peer Review interview?

If you are unsuccessful at the Peer Review Interview then you will be referred for 12

months.

The result letter will provide you with feedback as to why you were unsuccessful.

You will need to contact our Membership department to request a re-audit of your

CPD approximately 11 months after your last interview date.

Providing the CPD audit is successful you can then re-book your interview.

Another interview fee will be applicable.
