Evidence 1: Becoming a Pre-qualified Prekindergarten Education Program, 2015, Certificate Description: This certificate from the State of Vermont Department of Agency certifies I am qualified to provide preschool services to children ages three to five years who qualify for state funding through ACT 166. Analysis/Reflection: Becoming a Pre-qualified prekindergarten Education Program has been one of my long time goals. This has been another way I have become a leader in my community through the early childhood education field. The responsibilities and requirements are many, but I take each challenge with stride and excel in providing a quality Pre-K program in my county. I have attended many meetings and trainings to accomplish a successful program, thus providing my community with a quality program. As the only early education program serving children from birth to school age, I have an extensive wait-list, many times receiving calls from families to place their child on the wait-list with the intention of getting pregnant. Many families know my program, and know that placing their child (or anticipated child) on the wait-list will give them a better chance of securing a spot in my program.

Becoming a Pre-qualified Prekindergarten Education Program, 2015, Certificate

Description:

This certificate from the State of Vermont Department of Agency certifies I am qualified to provide preschool services to children ages three to five years who qualify for state funding through ACT 166.

Analysis/Reflection:

Becoming a Pre-qualified prekindergarten Education Program has been one of my long time goals. Serving Addison County as a Vermont Birth Through 5 Mentor in 2015. Letter to attest VB5 mentor

Description:

I was a Vermont Birth Through 5 Mentor for Addison County. My duties and responsibilities were to mentor other family child care home providers in the Addison County area. Mentors are matched with less experienced child care providers to form an ongoing relationship that is practical, supportive, and inspirational.

Analysis/Reflection:

Responsibilities are to support providers in identifying and achieving individual goals related to professional growth and development, quality improvement, sustainable business practices, and enhanced services for children and families. I met with the providers on a one-on-one basis to help navigate through the Stars (STep Ahead Recognition System), shared services website, and/or any other professional or personal goals related to early childhood education. As a mentor I worked with the provider to identify specific objectives to focus on accomplishing.

My time as a VB5 mentor was very rewarding in many ways. I enjoyed helping other providers receive the resources and or support that came through my mentoring meetings. Attending VB5 mentoring meetings and retreats to collaborate with other VB5 mentors around the state was very worthwhile. I met many new people that I will continue to collaborate with across the state who I would not have ever met if I hadn't been a mentor.

Provisional Early Childhood License, June, 2015, License Certificate

Description:

I was granted my Provisional Teaching License in June of 2015.

Analysis/Reflection:

I received my provisional teaching license in June of 2015. This allowed me to become my own teacher for my program, Mountain Road Preschool. I met the criteria for the license with my Baccalaureate Degree from Johnson State College and was enrolled in the Vermont Peer Review Program. As I became a Vermont Pre-qualified Education Program I needed a teaching license to fulfill that requirement which allowed my program to serve any 3-5 year old child enrolled at Mountain Road Preschool to utilize the state Act 166 Preschool funding.

One of the ways I have stepped up to an appropriate leadership role to advance in my profession was to achieve my provisional teaching license. I became a Pre-qualified Prekindergarten Education Program in June of 2015. I am the only qualified Pre-K program in the town of Addison. I take special pride in my accomplishments, and in my abilities and responsibilities set forth to me by the State of Vermont.
