Fall 2015 Board Elections PELA, the Partnership for an Equitable Los Angeles, believes progressive planning and policy have the power to promote social justice and help empower often marginalized community groups and that the Price community needs a space for students to explore this perspective while in school. Our mission is to connect with ongoing communityled work that uses planning and policy as a social justice tool, in order to expand our learning environment beyond the classroom and learn from community members. To achieve this mission, the organization will be guided by the following goals: 1. Building meaningful partnerships with community stakeholders. 2. Positioning PELA as a social justice pipeline for students, faculty, and staff on campus. 3. Actively reaching out to potential admits, new students, and alumni to grow and sustain the social justiceoriented community at Price. 4. Working within the school to institutionalize social justice learning opportunities. Revised Board positions have been created to support the pursuit of goals 14, established by members during the 20132014 school year. These changes enabled us to have more board member involvement and resulted in more programming and activities than in the year before. We hope that you enjoyed our trainings, tours, and discussions and will consider running for a board position for the 20152016 school year. All currently enrolled Price graduate and undergraduate students are eligible to be voting members, and to run for Board Positions. We will accept nominations (selfnominations accepted too!) from Monday, August 31st, through Sunday, September 6 th for all of the following positions: Finance Chair maintains records and report on the financial transactions of PELA.
