HISTORY OF PENANG

1786, Francis Light,

Penang was officially known as Negeri

Pulau Pinang. George Town, which has

the oldest municipal history in the

country, was accorded City status byQueen Elizabeth II on 1st January 1957.

16th century-was part of the Kedah Sultanate

-officially took possession of the

island for the Crown. The island

was named "The Prince ofWales Island.

characteristic of design by the roof that known as Bumbung

Gajah Menyusu.

Was the earlier type roof used for houses in Penang.

Design - very simple and easy but still looks unique.Floor - divided into several main area such as :

i- serambi tertutup

ii- beranda

iv- kelek anakv- kitchen and platform that is common area.

Lantai Jarang is build
