kista endometriosis,• 25% diantaranya meninggal

dunia, dan • 70% diantaranya adalah

wanita karir yang telah berumah tangga.

Kista Ovari dalam “Ayurveda”

• Ayurveda is an ancient Indian system of medicine that makes use of herbs existing in the nature and formulates herbal remedies.

• Dalam ayurveda beberapa tanaman telah disebutkan dapat mengobati kista ovary:

• Ashwagandha (Whitania somnifera), Turmeric (Curcuma longa), Grith Khumari (Aloe barbadensis), dll.

• Herbal drugs have promising role in treatment of PCOS and shows steady effect with minimal side effects.

• Herbal drugs enhance immunity of the body and also regularize menstrual cycle without fluctuating hormonal level.

• For regulating menstrual cycle, various poly herbal supplements are being used in India, viz. Evecare syrupcapsule and Geriforte tablets (Himalaya healthcare).

Aloe barbadensis

• Formulasi sediaan gel dari tanaman ini telah dilaporkan memiliki efek yang baik terhadap kista ovarium (Maharjan et al., 2010).

• Gel Aloe barbadensis dibuat dengan mencampurkan gel dengan: kunyit (Curcuma longa L. [3--5 g/l]), karaya gum (Sterculiaurens Roxb. [8--10% g/l]), dan perasan lemon (Citrus limon L. [1%]) sebagai preservatif.

Vitex agnus-castus

dapat mengatasi hormonal imbalances pada wanita yang dicurigai berpengaruh pada kelenjar pituitari.

• If a PCOS patient is trying to get pregnant or is on a prescription medication for hormonal imbalance, chaste berry should not be used without the expressed recommendation of a physician.

• The recommended daily dose of chaste berry is 1-4 ml of 1:2 dried plant tincture of 500-1000 mg of dried berries. (Qin, B. Et.al., 2003)

Cinnamon

• Cinnamon extract has been shown to reduce insulin resistance in in vitro and in vivo studies by increasing phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase activity in the insulin signaling pathway in skeletal muscle in rats and

• Thus, potentiates insulin action and facilitates weight loss in rat induced PCOS.

• Dikenal di malaysia sebagai tanaman penyubur kandungan

• Tanaman ini diklaim dapat menguatkan rahim pasca persalinan dan mengatasi berbagai gangguan menstruasi

• Penelitian yang dilakukan oleh Mansor, F. (2010) di Karolina Institute, Swedia, mengemukakan adanya aktivitas estrogenik dari tanaman ini.

Efek Terhadap PCOS

The promising effect of L. pumila had also been proven from the body composition and metabolic features of female rats treated continuously with dihydrotesterone to induce polycyctic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

About 50 mg/kg/day of the water extract increased uterine weight up to 27% and improved insulin sensitivity up to 36% as well improved the lipid profile in PCOS rats without affecting body composition [Manneras, 2010]

Dosis

In vivo experiments on ovariectomized rats treated with 17.5 mg/kg/day of water extract of L. pumila var. alata orally and 120µg/kg/day of estrogen replacement therapy (ERT) as a positive control. (Fazliana, M., 2009)

Saw Palmetto(Serena repens)

Saw Palmetto:• (Vassiliadi, D., et.al., 2009)• One of the many symptoms of PCOS is excess hair growth, also

known as hirsutism due to overproduction of estrogen hormone.

• Saw palmetto is a herb that has an anti-androgenic effects that may help to reduce hirsutism.

• In addition this herbal remedy also facilitates weight loss and increases libido.

• Saw Palmetto is frequently used together with Vitex Agnus Castus in women with PCOS to help restore hormone balance.

• It should be taken with a doctor's supervision because it may interact with medications and fertility.

• Its extract is believed to be a highly effective anti-androgen as it contains phytosterols.

• This has been the subject of a great deal of research with regards to the treatment of BPH (19, 20), androgenic alopecia (21), and PCOS (22).

Green Tea (Camellia sinensis)

• Green tea may have an important antiandrogen effect because it contains epigallocatechins, which inhibit the 5-alpha-reductase conversion of normal testosterone into DHT.

• As previously noted, this anti-androgen mechanism may help to reduce the risk of BPH, acne, and baldness.

• In addition to supporting the cardiovascular system and somewhat reducing the risk of cancer and type 2 diabetes (8).

(Ganoderma lucidum)• Red reishi (Japan), commonly known as LingZhi in Chinese,

is a mushroom thought to have many health benefits. • In a research study exploring the anti-androgenic effects of

20 species of mushrooms, reishi mushrooms had the strongest action in inhibiting testosterone (3).

• That study found that reishi mushrooms significantly reduced levels of 5-alpha reductase, preventing conversion of testosterone into the more potent DHT.

• High levels of DHT are a risk factor for conditions such as benign prostatatic hypertrophy (BPH), acne, and baldness.
