Still added, the Department of Social Welfare and Development maintains regional rehabilitation centers for Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL) and one (1) local government unit (LGU) maintains detention homes for said minors.

BJMP Sphere of OperationRA No. 6975 provides the Jail Bureau a mandate encompassing the taking of operational and administrative control over all city, district and municipal jails nationwide.

Purposively, nonetheless, being one of the pillars of the Criminal Justice System, the BJMP as a correctional arm spearheads the effort to better jail management and penology. Clients: detainees accused before the court and temporarily confined in said jails while undergoing investigation, waiting final judgment and serving court sentences of not more than 3 years (city sentence).
