THE PRAYERS

During this extended time of prayer you are invited to leave your seat and journey to the variousprayer stations that are set around the Cathedral. Light a candle as a way of offering prayer forspecific cares and concerns – for personal prayers, for the needs of the Church, or the world, forthose who are suffering from illness, addiction, or any kind of need, or for those who have died.

To conclude the prayers, the Presider saysLet us pray.

Presider: O God of many names,People: Lover of all nations,

We pray for peacein our hearts,in our homes,in our nations,in our world,

the peace of your will, the peace of our need, through Christ our Savior. Amen.

THE CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS

Presider: Let us admit our shortcomings to our Creator.

Silence.People: O God, you have searched us out and known us,

and all that we are is open to you.We confess that we have sinned:we have used our power to dominate

and our weakness to manipulate;we have evaded our responsibility

and failed to confront evil;we have denied dignity

to ourselves and to each other. We turn to you now, O Jehovah,we renounce all evil;we claim your love;we choose to be made whole.

Presider: As God, the source of all mercy, has reconciled the whole world to herself may youtruly receive his pardon and peace, and be forgiven through God's Eternal Majesty,Incarnate Word, and Abiding Spirit. Amen.

Presider: God of all creation, in whose design joy and woe are woven together, we thank youfor calling us to work with you in weaving the fabric of your kingdom. We thank youthat in your Son Jesus Christ, you have given us a pattern for ministry, and that yokedwith him in joys and sorrows we have strength for the tasks you set before us.

Be with us now as we remember Jesus, who, the night he was betrayed, took bread, said the blessing, broke the bread, and gave it to his friends, saying, “Take, eat: Thisis my Body, which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.”

After supper, Jesus took the cup of wine, gave thanks, and said, “Drink this, all of you:This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for theforgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.”

Come freshly to us now, El Olam, and keep us joyful in hope. Pour out your Holy Spiritupon this bread and wine as we bring these gifts before you and remember Christ’ssacrifice made once for all on the cross. That we may be blessed and nourished byhis Body and Blood and live and grow in him. Pick up the threads of our experience;craft your pattern in us and through us, and in your time reveal its significance; foryou are the God who weaves the opportunities of our daily lives, our joys andsorrows, into the glory of your eternal kingdom.

We ask this in the name of Jesus the Christ who, with the Holy Spirit, reveals your glory and goodness now and to the ages of ages.

People: Amen.

Silence.
