Using the Manager Dashboard
Viewing Direct Report Information on the Manager Dashboard
Navigation: Main Menu > HCM > Manager Dashboard
Purpose: Use this transaction to practice viewing direct report information from the Manager
Dashboard in PeopleSoft HCM.
Step Action
1. The Manager Dashboard consists of a variety of sections, including the Alerts, the
Manager Learning Center, Direct Line Reports, and more.
To view all of your Alerts, click the View All link.

2. Review the alert details. To delete the alert, you can click the Garbage Can icon.

Managing Position Data
Viewing Position Information for a Direct Report
Navigation: Main Menu > HCM > Manager Self Service > Manage Positions
Purpose: Use this transaction to view position information for a direct report in PeopleSoft
Manager Self Service.
Step Action
1. The Manage Position page displays your direct report positions, by position number.
You can view the job description for the position from here. You can also modify
the position FTE or request another position from this page as well.
Use the Position Number link to view position details for your direct report.
2. Click the appropriate Position Number link.

Requesting a New Position in MSS
Navigation: Main Menu > HCM > Manager Self Service > Manage Positions
Purpose: Use this transaction to request a new position in PeopleSoft Manager Self Service.
Step Action
1. The Manager Position page appears. You can either request another position based
on the listing of current positions within your group, or you can request a new
position not currently displayed.
For this example, you will request a new position not in your current group.

Requesting a Position FTE Change
Procedure
Navigation: Main Menu > HCM > Manager Self Service > Job and Personal Information >
Change Full/Part Time Status
Purpose: Use this transaction to request a position FTE change in PeopleSoft Manager Self
Service.
Step Action
1. The Manage Positions page lists all of your direct report positions. Locate the
position requiring the FTE change in the list.
Click the Modify FTE button to the right of the selected employee.

2. The Modify FTE page appears for the selected employee. Review the information
and verify the current FTE details.
3. Enter the desired information into the Effective Date field.
4. Enter the desired information into the New Weekly Std Hours field. For this
example, the standard work hours are being updated to 32.
5. To have the changes applied to the current employee, click the Yes, apply this
change to the current employee option.
6. Enter comments into the Position Justification field.
7. Click the Submit button.

Managing Job Data
Requesting a Termination
Navigation: Main Menu > HCM > Manager Self Service > Job and Personal Information >
Terminate Employee
Purpose: Use this transaction to terminate an employee in PeopleSoft Manager Self Service.
Step Action
1. Use this process to record a voluntary or involuntary termination in PeopleSoft
MSS.
When processing a termination in PeopleSoft, enter the date following their last
work day as the termination date in the system. The employee is then paid through
their last work day.

2. Locate the terminating employee in the list. Click the Select button to the left of the
appropriate employee.

4. Enter the desired information into the Termination Date field. Remember, this
must be the day following their last work date.
5. Click the Reason for Termination drop down.

Requesting an Ad Hoc Salary Change
Navigation: Main Menu > HCM > Manager Self Service > Compensation and Stock > Request
Ad Hoc Salary Change
Purpose: Use this transaction to request an employee ad hoc salary change in PeopleSoft
Manager Self Service.
Step Action
1. The Effective Date populates to the nearest Sunday but it can be changed when
necessary.
However, please note all ad hoc salary requests must have an effective date of
Sunday, otherwise an error message will display.
2. Click the Ad Hoc Salary Change option.
3. Click the Continue button.

5. On the Position Data page, enter the change percent or change amount to the current
pay rate. Tab out of the field to see the calculated New Pay Rate.

Requesting a Career Ladder Change

Promote Employee
Purpose: Use this transaction to request a career ladder change in PeopleSoft Manager Self
Service.
Step Action
1. The Effective Date will populate but this field can be edited.
However, please note the effective date for a career ladder must be a Sunday,
otherwise, an error message displays.

Requesting a Location Change
Navigation: Main Menu > HCM > Manager Self Service > Job and Personal Information >
Request Location Change
Purpose: Use this transaction to request a location change in PeopleSoft Manager Self Service.
Step Action
1. When you request a location change, you can request it to be processed and applied
to the current employee or to the position only (either because the employee is
terminating or because the employee is transferring).
In this example, you are requesting a location change for an employee.

2. Click the Select option to the left of the appropriate employee name.

Requesting a Shift Change
Navigation: Main Menu > HCM > Manager Self Service > Employee/Position Changes
Purpose: Use this transaction to request a shift change in PeopleSoft Manager Self Service.
Step Action
1. The Effective Date populates to the nearest Sunday but it can be changed when
necessary.
However, please note shift change requests must have an effective date of Sunday,
otherwise an error message will display.

4. There are three shifts defined in PeopleSoft for BHSF: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. A shift
change is applied to the position first and then flows down to the employee record.
On the Employee/Position Change page, click the Select button for the employee
receiving the shift change.

8. Next, choose whether this change applies to just the employee or to the position.

Requesting a Reporting Relationship Change
Navigation: Main Menu > HCM > Manager Self Service > Job and Personal Information >
Request Reporting Change
Purpose: Use this transaction to request a reporting change in PeopleSoft Manager Self Service.
Step Action
1. The Reporting Change page contains a list of your direct reports. Locate the
employee requiring a reporting change in the list.
Click the Select option for the employee.
2. Scroll down the page.

Requesting an Employee Job Change (Promotion/Demotion/Lateral Change)
Navigation: Main Menu > HCM > Manager Self Service > Employee/Position Changes
Purpose: Use this transaction to request an employee job change in PeopleSoft Manager Self
Service.
Prerequisites: Prior to entering a request for an employee job change into PeopleSoft, you
should work with HR site, Compensation, and the employee to identify the new job placement
and pay rate.
Step Action
1. An employee job change can be requested for a promotion, involuntary demotion,
and transfer (lateral change).
To enter a job change, enter an effective date and select the appropriate change
option.
2. The Effective Date populates with the current date. Change this field if necessary.
3. Click the Promotion / Demotion / Lateral Change option.

Recording a Performance Improvement Plan
Navigation: Main Menu > HCM > Manager Self Service > Performance Management >
Development Documents > Create Documents
Purpose: Use this transaction to document a leader performance improvement plan (PIP) in
PeopleSoft Manager Self Service.
Step Action
1. A performance improvement plan (PIP) is used for any employee in a leader
position that requires improvement.
If you have a leader whose performance needs improvement, work directly with HR
in completing the PIP form (this is external from the PeopleSoft system).
Once the form has been finalized, you will need to record it in PeopleSoft and attach
the form to the PeopleSoft record.

2. The Create Development Documents page contains a list of your direct reports.
Locate the direct report requiring the PIP in the list.
Click the Select checkbox for the identified employee.
3. Click the Continue button.

Recording a Corrective Action
Navigation: Main Menu > HCM > Manager Self Service > Performance Management >
Development Documents > Create Documents
Purpose: Use this transaction to record a direct report's corrective action using PeopleSoft
Manager Self Service.
Step Action
1. Corrective action (COA) is used for any staff employee that requires improvement.
If you have a staff employee in your direct report that requires corrective action,
work directly with HR in completing the COA form (this is external from the

Purpose: Use this transaction to approve and deny a transaction from the worklist in PeopleSoft

1. The worklist contains items that require your attention. In some cases, the items are
just notification and require no action from you. In other cases, the items are for
your approval and require action from you.

Alternatively, when you click the link in the email notification you received, you are
