This session we’ll be exploring the DISC behavioral styles in a way that is easy to remember and easy to use in everyday life. Most of you are aware of the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” It’s a great rule when it comes to your personal integrity, but when it comes to working with others, it often falls short because it assumes that other people want to be treated the same way you want to be treated. This seminar will introduce you to an alternative to the Golden Rule, which is the Platinum Rule: “Treat others the way they want to be treated.” This isn’t about changing your personality, instead it is about what drives people and your options for dealing with them. Attending this session will help you better understand

9:45 AM - 10:45 AMConcurrent Sessions:Employee Motivation and DisciplineKim Hoffman, im H ConsultingKey Area 2, CEU 1 Learn ways to assist your employees to perform their best! Discipline is not the same as punishment. Discipline relates to improving employee performance through a process of helping the employee (at least at first) o learn so they can perform more effectively. Your goal as a manager is to bring problems and issues to the employee’s attention so that the employee can correct them before they turn into major problems. Discipline problems don’t just go away. The longer you tolerate substandard work and negative behaviors, the worse that behavior usually becomes. Managers who don’t discipline their employees have only themselves to blame when poor performance continues and employee moral plummets. Motivation is equally important in assisting your employees to perform their best. Unfortunately, according to a recent national study, less than 1 in 4 non-management employees is motivated and fully productive. In this seminar we will be discussing proven ways to help your team (and you!) be your best.
