1. The Local Air Transportation System
The Ministry of Transport & Mining (MT&M) is guided by Outcome # 9of Vision 2030 Jamaica: To Build resilient infrastructure, promoteinclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation.
The five main strategic priorities under Outcome #9:
1. Expansion and rationalization of land transport infrastructure and services
2. Expansion and diversification of maritime infrastructure and services
3. Expansion of domestic and international air transport infrastructure and services
4. Development of a modernized public transport system
5. Development of Jamaica as a regional Logistics hub with multi modal transport linkages.

Air freight accounts for a less than 1% of total freight carried in terms of both volume and weight. However, air freight accounts for about 40% of its value
The key value added by air transport is time, the quick delivery of key items
2. Air Transportation Traffic & Capacity
MBJ‘s current annual passenger traffic is 3.8 million. Built capacity can accommodate 9 million passengers.
NMIA, current annual passenger traffic is 1.5 million and built capacity: 4.5 million passengers
