“...the shadow of a wife...” Who was Mrs. Shakespeare? …delves into the life of the Shakespeares from the point of view of day-to-day family life in the late 1500s & early 1600s England.
Joanne Zipay will explore what little is known about Anne Hathaway, the woman who was married to history’s greatest dramatist. What kind of a relationship existed in their 34 years of marriage, as she was at their home raising the three children in Stratford-Upon-Avon while he worked in the London theatre? Did he include her in his writing? And finally, a modern-day concept will be bridged: “How has modern feminist scholarship given us new perspectives on ‘traditional’ ideas about Anne Hathaway Shakespeare?”
Be sure to come to this discussion as a preface to the play performance of “Shakespeare’s Will” on Dec. 9 at 7pm (see p. 1)

Friends spotlightthe Friends of the library (Fol) would like to shine a spotlight on volunteer Mary hennel. Mary has been a member of the Fol for thir-teen years. Mary originally hails from Cincinnati, ohio and made her way to Warwick in 2000, with a few stops along the way. (Boston, MA; overland park, Ks; and Bartlett, il) Warwick is her “favorite and forever home.” her gre-garious and welcoming personality are perfect for her role as Vice-president and Membership Chair for the Fol. Mary has superb organizational skills, and is the coordinator of the Friends and Bookends used book store on the lower level of the library. she can be found there most Mondays from 10am — 1pm, so stop in and say hello.
in her spare time, Mary loves reading (of course) and has stated that she belongs to “the best book club in the world.” Mary also enjoys traveling, golf (who knew?), fashion (we knew!), and pilates. she works part-time at Avanti in War-wick. Mary lives in Warwick grove with her husband, ron and their three kitties – daniel, tyler and lexi.
thanks for all you do, Mary!
WeaTher-relaTeD clOSiNg pOlicy When the Warwick Valley Central School District either closes school, or delays opening because of inclement weather, the Library will automatically delay opening until 11:00am. Other weather-related Library closings will be on a case-by-case basis, authorized by the Board of Trustees and announced on the website, on the answering machine, and if possible, posted at the Library. Fines are forgiven on days when the Library is closed for inclement weather.
