Do not make any incense with this formula for yourselves; consider it holy to the LORD”. *The perfumes and oils created by Beit Avraham are not the same as menoned in this passage. Then [her sister] Mary took a pound of ointment of pure spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the odour of the ointment…” . PERFUMES AND OILS IN BIBLE TIMES

FOR GOD/ THE LORD/ KINGS:

Song of Songs 3:6 “Who is this [man] coming up from the

desert like a column of smoke, perfumed with myrrh and

incense made from all the spices of the merchant?”

FOR WOMEN:

Song of Songs 5:5 “I rose up to open to my Beloved; and

my hands dripped [with] myrrh, and my fingers flowing

[with] myrrh on the handles of the bolt”.

Esther 2:12 “Before a girl's turn came to go in to King

Xerxes, she had to complete twelve months of beauty

treatments prescribed for the women, six months with oil of myrrh and six with perfumes and cosmetics”.

OTHER:

Proverbs 27:9 “Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart…”

Ecclesiastes 9:8 “Let your garments be always white; and let your head lack no ointment”.

2 Chronicles 16:14 ”And they buried him in his own tomb… and laid him in the bed which was filled with

sweet odours and kinds [of spices] prepared by the perfumers art…”.

Luke 23:55-56 “The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and saw the tomb

and how his body was laid in it. Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they

rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment. “

Luke 24:1 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had

prepared and went to the tomb”.

Song of Songs 1:3 “Pleasing is the fragrance of your perfumes;

your name is like perfume poured out…”.

Will Setz’s Beit Avraham’ Myrrh anointing oil was part of a line of

perfumes and oils that were hand produced. They contained

materials which were used in Biblical times, made according to the

tradition of the late Second Temple Period.
