necessitate the construction of a drainage
system that is more expensive than an
equivalent conventional design then full
compliance is not required, and instead the
drainage system must comply with the

• Limitations of the BS7533:13/Interpave method
• Return period limited to 1:100 +20%
• Discharge rates limited to 7lt/sec/ha
• Need to re-calculate/correct for;
• additional non permeable areas, adjacent/roofs
• slopes
• CBR values less than 5%
• Replacing permeable sub base with non permeable DBM
• Checking thickness of remaining HBCGA when substituting with DBM
• Costs need to be calculated manually
