Curry County 4-H Membership Requirements 4-H is open to ages 9-19. A youth must have passed their 9th birthday, but not their 19th birthday prior to January 1st of the current 4-H year to be considered eligible for membership. Curry County 4-H members must maintain an “Active Membership” status prior to participation in 4-H Rodeo, County Contests, District and State Conference, or Junior Divisions of the Curry County Fair. An “active” member will be considered one who attends four (4) or more regularly scheduled club meetings. Not more than two (2) meetings in any given month will count toward the membership requirement. Meetings count during the 4-H year which is October 1st through September 30th. The intent of this rule is not to punish inactive members, but rather to reward active members. Therefore, every effort should be made to provide opportunities for members to obtain an “active” status. Members may NOT attend multiple clubs’ meetings in order to maintain active status. 4-H Council Officers cannot miss over three (3) regular Council Meetings and retain that office.

FREE for ages 15-18 This interactive program will intro-duce youth to the technology and in-novations that are currently being used for food production and envi-ronmental sustainability. Virtual demonstrations, interactive exercis-es, and virtual tours will make up a big portion of the program. Stu-dents will be able to go through all the modules, select an area of most interest and “pitch” a problem solv-ing concept related to agriculture to a panel of judges. This is a great op-portunity to meet people from across the state and share ideas about how to feed the world with the help of technology! Register online at: aces.nmsu.edu/agtechcamp/

Good Luck Cara! Cara McWilliams is a member of the Dirt Devil’s 4-H Club. This July, she will be completing the interview pro-cess to become an ambassador for the State 4-H team. Cara will be doing an interview, as well as a presenta-tion. Cara has been in 4-H for 6 years and she is very excited for this oppor-tunity. Cara’s favorite contests are meat judging, dairy heifer judging, quilting, and favorite foods. She also shows dairy heifers. We are very proud of Cara and wish her the best of luck!
