Examples of Appt Percentage and FTE Faculty Appointment Percentage Examples

• ASSUMPTION: 12 Credits/Quarter is Full-Time for Qtr (Note: This changes depending on your particular college. Please contact Provost if unsure)

• Quarterly Calculation

• TT Professor, Full Time (12 Credit Load) = 100% Appt

• NTT Instructor Teaching 3 Credits = 3/12 or 25% Appt

• Annual Calculation (36 Credits Required for AY)

• Assumes Even Credit Distribution Load Per Quarter

• If Not, Use Quarterly Calculation Process

• TT Professor, Full Time (36 Credits) = 100% Appt

• NTT Professor, Part Time (9 Credits) = 9/36 = 25% Appt

• Calculations when Credit Load Changes by Qtr

• NTT Professor, 3 Credits Fall, 6 Credits Wtr, 1 Credit Spr

• Fall = 3/12 or 25% Appt

• Winter = 6/12 or 50% Appt

• Spring = 1/12 or 8.33% Appt

Faculty FTE Examples

# Months Worked/9 (or 12) X Appt %

FTE For Full-Time Faculty

• 9 Month, Full Time (100% Appt)

• 9/9 X100% = 1.0 FTE (Academic)

• 12-Month FTE (Job FTE)

• 9/12 X100% = .75 FTE

• If the Appt % changes between quarters, you need to compute the FTE by quarter

• Example: NTT Instructor, Fall 25%, Winter 50%, Spring 75%

• FALL: 3/12 X 25% = .063FTE

• WINTER: 3/12 X 50% = .125FTE

• SPRING: 3/12 X 75% = .188FTE
