How to Get ThereBY AIR Virgin Australia, Qantas and Jetstar service Perth from capital cities throughout Australia. There are two regional airlines in Western Australia. Virgin Australia Regional Airlines operate flights between Perth, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Esperance, Ravensthorpe, Albany and Busselton. Skippers operate flights between Perth, Carnarvon, Leonora and Monkey Mia.

BY RAIL Experience the last remaining trans-continental train journey, the Indian Pacific. This amazing rail journey begins in Sydney, traverses Australia from coast to coast before concluding in Perth (operates in reverse). Alternatively, board the train in Adelaide before continuing on to Perth.

BY CAR Take the time to explore and discover as you make your way through Perth and The West Coast by road. Whether it’s getting there or getting around we recommend Avis car hire. See page 16 for details.

We offer a selection of suggested driving itineraries, providing you with the freedom to discover some of the highlights of Perth and The West Coast at your own pace. Refer to the Self Drive Holidays starting on page 12 for more details.

Travellers should drive at a speed that suits the road, vehicle, weather conditions and their driving experience. In remote parts of Western Australia driving slowly on gravel roads is recommended. It is not uncommon to encounter roaming wildlife on the side of the road. Particular care should be taken when driving at dawn and dusk, and if possible avoid driving at night.

1. Swim with Whale SharksSwim with the gentle giants of the ocean, the Whale shark. Between April and July, these majestic animals visit the World Heritage Listed Ningaloo Reef which is home to a stunning array of coral and marine life. (see pages 11 and 54 for details)
