Kota Kinabalu District Plan 2030A draft copy of Kota Kinabalu District Plan (KKDP) was submitted to Dewan

stBandaraya Kota Kinabalu (DBKK) on 21 September 2020 (Monday). The draft was revised and updated with suggestions and feedback collected from PAM Sabah Chapter Committee after deliberations.

CSR Courtesy Visit to DBKK – Tuan Abdul Manap Rajikan The CSR committee proposed a pilot project 'Ground Zero' of the Walkability, Accessibility and Connectivity (WAC) urban development work at the junction of Jalan Damai and Jalan Kolam at Luyang, K.K. The courtesy visit was led by Chapter Chairman Ar. Rizal Ahmad Banjar, together with four (4) committee members; Ar.

stSim Sie Hong, Ar. Arnold Kwan, Ar. William Ho and Ar. Chan Foong Sing on 1 October 2020 (Thursday). The main agenda was to discuss the joint implementation with DBKK & JKR Urban Improvement Project. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Kalvin Liaw, who represented Tuan Abdul Manaf Rajikan, Timbalan Ketua Pengarah (Perancangan dan Pembangunan).

RISM WebinarPAM Sabah Chapter Chairman Ar. Rizal Ahmad Banjar was invited to the Royal

stInstitution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) Sabah Branch webinar on the 1 October 2020 (Thursday). The topic presented was “Authority's View: KK Building By-laws & Pan Borneo Highways”. The two speakers were Sally Edward Ghani, Pengarah Jabatan Kawalan Bangunan DBKK, and Mr. Mohd. Shamsul Nizam bin Abdul Wahid, Ketua Penolong Pengarah JKR Sabah (Cawangan Pan Borneo).

The seminar includes:

• Updates on KK Building By-laws, Rules and Regulations on building setback, development density and related requirement

• An overview of the construction planning, costing and timeline, and the current status of Pan Borneo Highway (Sabah)

LAM Part III Professional Written Examination A total of twelve (12) candidates sitting for the LAM Part III Professional Written

rdExamination on 3 October 2020 (Saturday), which was held at the Promenade Hotel, Kota Kinabalu. There were twelve (12) candidates taking Paper 1, and six (6) candidates taking Paper 2.

announced CMCO and was implemented from 7 October to 20 December 2020.

1st Architect's Virtual RunThe 1st Architect’s Virtual Run started. Participants to complete their run within the running period. AVR Challenge is also introduced. Group compete with each other to complete the run within shortest time. Winner will be announced in December.

CIDB Engagement Meeting with Construction Stakeholders in SabahPAM Sabah Chapter Chairman, Ar. Rizal Ahmad Banjar was invited by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) (also known as Lembaga Pembangunan Industri Pembinaan Malaysia) to attend the Engagement Meeting with Construction Stakeholders in Sabah. Due to the presence of the COVID-19 pandemic, attendance will be limited to one person per organization. There were two (2) Opening remarks addressed by the CIDB Sabah Director, Tuan Rosmen Bin Ag Hassan, and by the CIDB Malaysia Board Member, Dr. Roland Chia.

The meeting is to discuss “Weathering Construction Industry in Sabah Amid the Pandemic: COVID-19 Crisis in 2020/2021”. The agenda scheduled as follows:

• To propose the formation of Sabah Construction Consultative Council as a common platform;

• Appointment of ad-hoc secretariat Sabah Construction Consultative Council;

• Open engagement with invited stakeholders about 15 minutes per stakeholder;

• Proposals or solutions to be recommended to the Senior Minister of Works and CIDB Malaysia Board.

LAM Registration - Renewal for 2021Notice for LAM Registration Renewal issued online. According to the Notice 'Bil (1)

thdlm LAM 185' dated 16 November 2020 posted in the LAM website, requirement for CPD points is waived and renewal fee with 50% rebate is provided for the 2021 renewal. The online system for registration activated from 21th December 2020 to 31st January 2021.

PAM Registration – Renewal for 2021 PAM members were provided with 50% reduction in their membership subscription fee for year 2021 due to COVID-19 pandemic as per the announcement found in PAM Kl’s Facebook posting.

Administration Fee for 2021(PAM Sabah Chapter) PAM Sabah Chapter offered a reduction of 50% for the administration fee for the Chapter Corporate Membership 2021 in view of the COVID-19 pandemic and impacts towards the local businesses and nationwide economy.

Best Practices for Successful Waterproofing– Webinar by MAPEI Best Practices for Successful Waterproofing' was the first webinar organised by Sabah Chapter by using the online ZOOM platform. A total of 69 participants attended the webinar. The speaker was Mr. Yong Wai Ket from Mapei (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. The 'Question & Answer' session was interactive enough as many questions were being typed in the Chat box by the corporate and graduate members. First 10 Lucky Draw gift was provided to the online participants who had submitted their feedback form as per the request of MAPEI.

Train The Trainer (TTT) Workshop – Focus Group Discussion 1

thThe Focus Group Discussion No.1 was held online for the first time on 19 November 2020 (Thursday) by Jabatan Hal Ehwal Wanita Negeri Sabah (JHEWA) as the continuation of the Gender Equality programme through the Train-The-Trainer (TTT) Workshop for the Gender Development in Sabah. Since both Ar. Sharon M Amin and Ar. Tressie Yap as the representatives of Sabah Chapter, who have been attending the Gender Training programmes and workshops from 2019 to 2020, they were selected as one of the potential Trainers to participate the Focus Group Discussion online.

Building Information on Modelling (BIM)– Webinar on Practical Material Selection Guide with BIM Adoption and Emerging Trend that Shape the Future of Architecture

thThe second webinar organised by PAM Sabah Chapter was held on 26 November 2020 (Thursday) with an attendance of 72 participants. There were two (2) topics delivered via ZOOM online. The first session on 'Practical Material Selection Guide with BIM Adoption' by Mr Rocky Shet, Technical Marketing Engineer from NS Bluescope (M) Sdn Bhd; the second session was conducted by Ts. Dr. Leng Pau Chung, Senior Lecturer for Architecture Programme in UTM on the topic 'Emerging Trend That Shape The Future Of Architecture: Building Information Modelling (BIM)'. 'Q & A' session followed by a survey link were provided in chat box for evaluation and improvement.

Sabah Construction Consultative Council (SCCC) MeetingSabah Construction Consultative Council is mooted to be a pro-active platform to address common issues faced by the industry stakeholders and thrives for the betterment of the industry in Sabah to be presented to the Federal Government and its related Government Linked Companies (GLCs) such as technology, equipment, knowledge etc to improve productivity.

It is composed of the President/Chairman and its representatives of well-established and leading professional bodies/NGOs in the Building and Construction Industry in Sabah, namely SHAREDA, PAM, IEM, ACEM, RISM, FMM, FSI, SBA and SQA.

stheld online on 1 December 2020 (Tuesday) according to the schedule of Jabatan Hal Ehwal Wanita Sabah, with the aim to train the potential government officers and the respective professionals from private sectors to be the specialists or the experts in term of Gender Development for our beloved State. Both Ar. Sharon M Amin and Ar. Tressie Yap attended the two (2) FGD online as the representatives of PAM Sabah Chapter.

10th December 2020st1 Joint Consultative Meeting by PAM Sabah Chapter

The Joint Consultative meeting is the first Joint Professional Bodies Committee meeting, which was called and chaired by PAM Chapter Chairman Ar. Rizal Ahmad

thBanjar on 10 December 2020 (Thursday). The main agenda of the meeting was collaborated to consolidate memorandum for submission to Sabah Economic Advisory Council (SEAC). Two (2) representatives from each professional body were invited to attend the meeting, which were the Sabah Chapter of PAM, ACEM, IEM and RISM. Issues and suggestions affecting the consultants and construction industry as a whole are deliberated for the consideration of the SEAC to be submitted and presented to the YAB Chief Minister of Sabah.

2nd December 2020

Sabah Economic Advisory Council (SEAC) MeetingDatuk John Lo and Datuk Tan Kim Beng from Sabah Economic Advisory Council had invited all the Presidents or Chairperson of the professional bodies, and also one (1) committee member each to their meeting. Seven (7) professional bodies invited, which were PAM, MMA, RISM, IEM, SLS, MIA and SPS. The main objective of the meeting was aimed to propose strategies for the economic recovery of Sabah especially for the service sectors. PAM Chapter Chairman Ar. Rizal Ahmad Banjar
