then comes marriage

eta-Gaye and Andrew have been friends since 2006. The two have

mutual friends and hung out in the same circle for years. How-ever, it wasn’t until the end of 2008 when their mutual interest in each other was sparked, and the two began dating. Peta-Gaye and Andrew celebrated their union with a destination wedding in Strawberry Hill, Jamaica.

A Deep Understanding We have a deep connection that sometimes is so difficult to articulate. We understand each other very well and have grown on the same path with the same goals in mind for years now. We are similar in many ways which makes growing together easy, yet our differences mean we both bring something unique to our family table.

The ProposalPeta-Gaye has always loved Chicago. Chi-city, as we call it, holds a special place in her heart because of the accomplish-ments she has attained there. It’s also where we took our first trip together, and where I first conveyed my love to her. It made sense to me that this was the perfect place to propose.

I took her to dinner at the Signature Room Restaurant, after which we strolled around the Clarence F. Buckingham Memorial Fountain. There, I got down on bended knee as she snapped a picture of the view behind me. She stumbled after realizing I was proposing and accidentally snapped a picture of the proposal.

From the BrideThe wedding day exceeded my expectations on so many levels. I had an amazing support team that assisted me each step of the way. Being somewhat shyer than most, having a guest list of 200 people was intimidating.

However, as I stepped onto the aisle, and saw my husband, those nerves disappeared.

The day does go by very quickly and so it was especially significant that I took a moment to absorb the surroundings filled with family and friends all in one place at the same time.

From the GroomI was so excited leading up to our wedding. I was set to marry the woman of my dreams and my best friend. I cannot explain how good it felt to have both our families and closest friends together for the days leading up to our nuptials. It created an atmosphere of euphoria and we just kept climbing to higher highs as the day went on.

Our wedding was amazing. There was such an outpouring of love. My favorite part of the day was seeing my bride for the first time. I was truly blown away by her stunning beauty. Looking into each other's eyes and saying those vows was beautiful.

Vows From the HeartThe most memorable moment would have to be the exchange of the vows. It was the moment that confirmed everything we hold in our hearts for our journey together.

Wedding SongThe wedding song was “Love Song” by 311. We are Jamaican and so we wanted to choose something that had a Reggae style. We were avid fans of The Voice and we fell even more in love with this song when it was performed by Adam Levine.

The Perfect Favors The favorite wedding detail was, hands down, the favors. Jencare Skin Farm & Day Spa provided a body butter for men and women called The Perfect Blend. This is heaven in a jar and accurately describes our union.

Looking AheadWe are looking forward to this entire jour-ney together. We will accomplish, experi-ence, and conquer much together and we are both fortunate and grateful to be on the same ride.

Advice for Future Brides and GroomsFind a moment to stop and take it all in. Find the time to look around you at the sup-portive faces all in one place. It is a unique time where the most important people in your lives will all be at this one location. Soak it all in.

Also, make time to get pampered with spa therapy (massage therapy, waxing, facial, manicure, and pedicures). It relaxes you and facilitates a calm delight throughout the process and especially on the big day.
