Peter Greer Elementary – Parent Advisory Committee
Agenda – September 13, 2016 1. Welcome and Introductions: In attendance: Leigh-Ann, Kristen, Louise,
Tammy, Adria, Susan, Rochelle, Eric, Doris, Sheri, Shannon, Nathen, Karen S., Roslyn, Stephanie, Caitlin, Jordan, Crystal, Cindy, Amy, Jen, Kevin, Maggie, Jessica, Maaike.

4. Reports: 4.1 President’s report (Susan)
• Figuring out how to get mail • Fruit and veggie program (Sephora runs) Milk will be added
this year. • BCTF will do presentations for PAC if we are interested. See
flyer for topics. • Canadian Parents for French: Brochure and they offer
camps. See Susan if interested in more information • Thank you card from our bursary winner • COPAC: we missed the first meeting. Offers different events
throughout the year. Next meeting is Oct. 3 if anyone is interested in attending
• Passport to Learning: Due on Sept. 22. Susan has bought the gift cards for this.
4.2 Treasurer’s report (Roslyn)
4.2.1 Monthly Budget report: See report. 4.2.2 Roslyn is working on the gaming report for this year.
4.3 Members at Large reports
4.3.1 Fun Lunch (Rochelle & Natasha) • Rochelle has planned the first 7 weeks of fun lunch. • Have included a gluton free option • PayPal has had some issues. Please let Rochelle know if
you experience difficulties. Still need a few volunteers to pack and hand out hot lunch on Thursday’s around 10:30. Please contact Rochelle if you can help.
• Need to buy some new bins. Old ones are starting to crack. Roslyn will look into purchasing option and buy. Motion: Susan Second: Leigh-Ann
4.3.2 Noon Hour Programmes (Leigh Ann) • Nothing to report • Will try for a variety of programs for various age groups
4.3.3 Veggie Programme (Sephora) • Nothing to report
4.3.4 Social Media (Roslyn) • Starting to post again in September. • If anything you want to have on the page, please let Roslyn
know.
4.3.5 Volunteer coordination (Eric) • Meet and greet went well.
4.3.6 Choir • Meeting to organize it will happen on Thursday
4.4 Fundraising reports 4.4.1 Art Cards (Susan) – art is due Oct 5th
• Students have already started working on them. • Karen will remind staff of due date and child signs own
name 4.4.2 Purdy’s (Leigh Ann)
• Will be for Christmas 4.4.3 Poinsettias (Roslyn)
• Will be for Christmas 4.4.4 Mother’s Day Flowers (Maaike) 4.4.5 All of these fundraisers will need people to help the person who
is organizing with handing out and organizing.
4.5 Principal’s report • What to include in the Principal’s report? Just to give
Karen an idea. • Numbers are down from projections: We are currently at
412. • Thank you for the signage. It is now up in the school. • School goals: 3: literary, social emotional, numeracy.
• 7 support staff this year. Currently working on classroom needs. Work collaboratively in the classroom with the teacher.
• Play is the Way: Play based learning. Building resiliency and perseverance. Learning social skill through games. Also builds a common language. 2 blocks in the week starting in October for small groups to play these games.
• Clean up of B pod has occurred. Still need to organize old filing cabinet. Roslyn will do this with Karen.
• Changing of how to contact with Parents. No monthly newsletter. This year there will be a monthly calendar sent out with events that are known that will be occurring. Once a week an email will be sent out about that week’s events.
5. Old business:
5.1 Passport to Education: Already mentioned above in President’s report.
5.2 Yearbooks (Jessica) • Jessica is organizing a group of 5-6 students each month to
have a meeting and get pictures. • Few yearbooks left over from last year that we can sell or
donate to kids who still would like one.
6. New business: 6.1 Harvest Social planning and formation of committee
• Rochelle has the Old Time Fiddlers booked. • Maaike has the check list for what to do. Meet for 5 minutes
after this meeting if you can help out to organize. 6.2 Other events:
• Family Movie Night: Adria is organizing it for November 18th. She will need help. May have grade 6 leadership help or use this as a grade 6 fundraiser.
• Teacher appreciation week-Second term, week before report cards
• Family Fun Night: End of the year • Christmas Concert: Will be brought up at staff meeting.
6.3 Spirit Wear: • We do have some inventory. Do we want to do another order
right away? Or wait till later in the year? Send out in October.
6.4 Maaike is going back to school and won’t be able to step in to run meetings when Susan is away. Someone will step up and fill in for Susan when she is away-volunteers: Rochelle, Roslyn or Kristen.
