example from a party that an Aussie Mum ran recently. She ran her party during the Christmas

period incorporated her party around the readBABYread 500 Project and.

Having a runsheet will help you on so many levels! This helps de-clutter your mind of what the day will look like and will also help you achieve what you want in the day!

Before the day

1. Send out your invitations (A template is available online and in your “Be the Change Tool Kit” book). Be sure to include what 500 project initiative the party will be focussed around and include the details for this.

2. Think through of how you want your day to look. Eg A Christmas theme it would be great to have a Christmas tree, Christmas decorations, stockings etc!

3. Ask some mums to help on the day for set up and to oversee some of the party stations. 4. Be sure to check out our Pinterest website ( www.pinterest.com/coloursistahood ). We have

set up 2 boards devoted to Petite Sisterhood ideas-all of the ideas below are on there with greater detail also.

Runsheet 8:30am Have the team who you have asked to assist you on the day arrive to help set up-be sure to have the coffee machine on and ready for them! This is the time to set up your stations, assign station leaders and make sure all is ready for when the petite party girls arrive! 9:15am Pray for the day ahead! 9:25am Welcomer on the door ready (Choose someone from your team who is naturally a great greeter!) 9:30am Arrival time! 10:00am Gather everyone for an official welcome & introduction of the morning's activities. TIP: Ask some Mums to bring some fruit platters, fairy bread plates etc to share if you feel you can’t cater for everyone!

Note: During this time you will have the opportunity to speak to the girls around the emphasis of the morning. Focus on the pile of books under the Christmas tree that you asked them to bring for the 500 Project that you incorporating into the day. Choose a book to show the girls and explain that this very book will be held by another child across the world in Africa very soon and that it will help the child with their reading and writing. You can than ask the children a series of questions to help them understand the project more, questions like:

Why it is important to know how to read and write and how books help with our learning.

Talk about South Africa and where the other children live. Have a map ready to point out where South Africa is.

Talk about the why behind why you are donating books to the children. Talk about how blessed we are and how we are blessed to be a blessing.

Talk about how it may feel to receive new books and how that in turn makes us feel.

Finally pray together for the children who will be receiving the books. 10:50am Snack time! Allow the children to help themselves to morning tea (Christmas treats could include gingerbread cookies, Christmas tree cut cookies etc)/ Offer fruit platters/skewers, encouraging children to eat healthy food! 11:00am Start third group activity. 11:10am Complete third activity. 11:15am Start final group activity. 11:25am Complete final activity and gather as a whole to farewell the girls & remind them of their 'work' to collect & take home. TIP: Every girl loves a party bag, why not put one together for them to take home! 11:30am Home time

Station Activities

1. Love thy neighbour. Decorate a wreath with ribbon & baubles to gift to your local elderly home for decoration for the residents rooms. Materials needed: Wreaths, baubles & ribbon.

2. Make a memory.

A water colour painting of an inspirational image. Materials needed: Jars of water, paintbrushes, watercolours & an image on card.

3. Be the change.

Make Christmas cards to sell-the profits will pay for postage of the 500 project books which also teaches the girls to be self-sustaining in their projects! Note: Well prepped cards are more likely to sell than cards where children are left to their own creativity.

Materials needed: Prepped cards, craft glue, buttons, cellophane, labels, and pens. Directions: Step 1: Glue buttons on to a prepped card cover to create hanging baubles (see photographs). Step 2: Package the cards in packs of 2 and wrap them in cellophane. Seal them with a label that read "Made by: …………".

4. Petite SHINE: Make lip-gloss, to keep & to gift.

Directions:

Step 1: Mix Vaseline & berry flavoured Kool-Aid powder in a bowl.

Step 2: Decant the mixture into little tubs.

Step 3: Decorate the tubs with Christmas stickers. Make as many as you like in the time

given.

Materials needed: Bowls, wooden stirrers, Vaseline, Kool-Aid/powerade powder, Christmas

stickers, plastic tubs, wet wipes, named sandwich bags for girls to store their lip-glosses in.

More station activity ideas

1. Pamper table Materials needed: Have on your table nail polishes, nail files, and nail stickers. (Make sure you have an adult overseeing this-could get messy fast!)

2. Drawing table Materials needed: Have on your table plain paper/coloured paper, colouring pencils, gel pens/stamps etc.

3. JOY TO THE WORLD Photo Wall. Materials needed: Props are great for photo walls! In light of the Christmas theme we would recommend, reindeer antlers, Santa hats, Christmas dress ups etc. You could also include a picnic blanket with books & soft toys & tea sets.
