    All Out to Defend Afrmative Action, Minority PoliticalRights & Immigrant Rights

    at the U.S. Supreme Court in D.C. on Oct. 15th!Sign the petition to demand that all Detroit area school students receive an excused absenceparticipate in a thousands strong demonstration at the Supreme Court in D.C. Oct. 15th!

    BAMNs case (Schuette v. BAMN) is about the protection of the political rights and educational futures of black, Latina/o and other

    minority residents under the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment during the period of the greatest demographic change that the

    nation has ever faced, from majority white to majority minority nation. OurcaseseekstooverturnProposal2,whichbansafrmativeactionanddeniestoblack&Latina/ocitizensthepoliticalrighteventoproposethatafrmativeaction

    policies be used to reverse the drop in minority enrollment at Michigans public universities, even though these are the only policies that can address this problem, which is caused by

    Michigans nationally recognized pattern of intense segregation and inequality. Proposal 2 creates an admission system where the universities pretend that race and racism do

    not exist.Proposal2violatesthe14thAmendmentsEqualProtectionClausebecauseitmeansthatawhitemajorityhassuppressedbasicpoliticalrightsofblackandLatina/ocitizens.

    AfrmativeActionprogramswerewonoutofthe struggles of the last civil rights movement. It will be what we do in the streets that wins this case and restore

    afrmativeactionandminoritypoliticalrightsandwincitizenshiprightsforimmigrantsinthiscountry.Towin,wemust demonstrate in the thousands outside the court!
