Transverse and longitudinal self-retaining retractors are thoughtfully engineered for efficient exposure to the cervical spine through an independent pivoting mechanism, fluid blade engagement, and low-profile design.

Safeguarding Vital Structures

The pivoting mechanism on the Phantom CS Pivoting Side-Load Retractors ensures the surgeon can control inward anatomical force on the retractor blades and minimize unintentional and potentially harmful pressure on the esophagus and tracheal anatomy. Shift in the assembly when muscle and tissue engage with the retractor blades during pivoting is eliminated with the Phantom ML™ Angled Articulating Arm, Rack Clamp (ML-0060) and Phantom ML Rotatable Table Clamp (ML-0021) freeing the surgical staff from unnecessary manual stabilization of the retractor assembly.

PERSONALIZED RETRACTION, REALIZED.

The Phantom CS Cervical Depth Gauge (CS-0106) is used in combination with Phantom CS aluminum retractor blades for color-coded identification of the desired blade lengths based on the Cervical Depth Gauge reading after finger dissection. The Depth Gauge allows seamless blade selection, improving the surgical workflow, saving time, and minimizing costs.

The need for reliable, yet low impact retraction has been addressed through the continued innovation of retractor blade designs.

Phantom CS Retractor Blades have been specifically engineered for the retraction of critical anatomical structures as individual as every patient. Short tooth blades, designed for use with a transverse retractor, retract the carotid sheath laterally whereas long tooth blades, retract the esophagus, longus colli muscle, and trachea medially. Blunt blades are engineered to retract soft tissue longitudinally.

Phantom CS blades are available in both aluminum and titanium materials. Aluminum blades are fully radiolucent for surgeons that require maximum visualization under fluoroscopy, while titanium blades are semi-radiolucenct under fluoroscopy, yet provide a stronger retraction capability.

Phantom CS Retractor Blades are available in both swivel and fixed Cross-Cut Ball-Snap-Type blade connectors. The swivel connector design allows rotation in the retractor to conform to the anatomy while the fixed connectors prevent the blade from swiveling in situ, desirable for those anatomical situations requiring minimal movement.

Short Tooth Blades are recommended for use with the transverse retractor to retract the carotid sheath laterally and provide access to the cervical spine. Their convex design and short-tooth distal end have been specifically engineered to retract this critical anatomical structure.

Similar to Short Tooth Blades, the Micro Short Tooth blade design is recommended for use with the transverse re-tractor to retract the carotid sheath laterally. Their 14 mm width aids in minimizing the surgical footprint for smaller patients and single-level cases.

Long Tooth Blades are recommended for use with the transverse retractor to retract the esophagus, longus colli muscle, and trachea medially providing access to the cervical spine. The distal end design of the blade has been opti-mized to relieve pressure while confidently retracting.

LET THERE BE LIGHT The Phantom ML Secure Light Cable, Pronged Bushing, 10’ (ML-0058) or Phantom ML Light Cable, 10’, Sterile (ML-0046) is deployed into the light channel port located on the proximal end of the blade, ensuring consistent and predictable illumination from the Phantom ML LED Light Source (ML-0051). For hospitals and clinics that have a light source with an ACMI Interface in the operating room, the Phantom ML ACMI Adapter (ML-0053) is available to make the ACMI Light source compatible with either of the Phantom ML Light Cables.

Once the transverse and longitudinal retractors are in place, the light cable is deployed. The proximal location of the light channel port makes this a seamless process for the operating room team. Phantom CS Retractor Lighted Blades are swivel Cross-Cut Ball-Snap-Type blade connectors. The swivel connector design allows rotation in the retractor to minimize pressure throughout the procedure.

Distraction Screws, also called Caspar Pins, play a critical and sometimes time-consuming role in the procedural workflow. Phantom CS QuickStart Distraction Screws have been designed to minimize time spent on distraction as they require half the turns of a standard distraction screw to be seated when used in combination with the Phantom CS Distraction Screwdriver, Springless (CS-0114). The tri-fluted distal end design seats the screw in the vertebral body and the dual-threaded screw body accelerates the deployment of the screw and minimizes surgeon wrist strain.

When Phantom CS QuickStart Distraction Screws are used in combination with a Phantom CS Locking Distractor, surgical disruptions caused by the distractor riding out of the surgical site are eliminated and seamless distraction can be achieved, delivering institutional savings by minimizing time spent in the operating room. A Phantom CS Locking Distractor must be used to leverage the locking design of the Phantom CS QuickStart Distraction Screw.

Twist drills are used to create a pilot hole for distraction screws, either manually or mechanically. Drill Guides are used to aid in the parallel deployment of distraction screws. Without parallel distraction screw deployment, distractors, espe-cially those with fixed arm designs, will ride out of the surgical access site. The Phantom CS Dual Drill Guide (CS-0110) can be used stand-alone whereas the Phantom CS Single Drill Guide (CS-0119), Phantom CS Drill Guide, Left (CS-0130), and Phantom CS Drill Guide, Right (CS-0131) are used in combination with rectangular rack distractors to aid in seating distraction screws in parallel.

PHANTOM CS CURETTES CLEAN WAVE KERRISON RONGEURS

Phantom CS Curettes are available in straight, angled, reverse, and 90° angles and are made of premium surgical grade stainless steel with a color-coded grooved polymer handle for easy identification and improved grip.

The waved shaft design of Clean Wave Kerrison Rongeurs provides exceptional access to the most troublesome cleaning and sterilization lo-cations without take-apart instrument maintenance challenges. No disassembly required. The Clean Wave Kerrison provides long-lasting bone cutting power and is available in 8” and 11” shaft designs. Glare-free black ceramic coating ensures a smooth glide for optimal performance, is available in an 8” shaft design and a 9” bayoneted shaft design.
