“to lend to those less fortunate a helping hand.”

PHI MU CREED To lend to those less fortunate a helping hand

To think of God as a protector and guide of us all

To keep forever sacred the memory of those we have loved and lost

To be to others what we would they would be to us

To keep our lives gentle, merciful, and just

Thus being true to the womanhood of love

To walk in the way of honor, guarding the purity of our thoughts and deeds

Being steadfast in every duty, small or large

Believing that our given word is binding

Striving to esteem the inner man above culture, wealth or pedigree

Being honorable, courteous, tender

Thus being true to the womanhood of honor

To serve in the light of truth, avoiding egotism, narrowness and scorn

To give freely of our sympathies

To reverence God as our maker, striving to serve Him in all things

To minister to the needy and unfortunate

To practice day by day love, honor, truth

Thus keeping true to the meaning, spirit and reality of Phi Mu

FEATURED SISTER, BETHANY LEECH (‘08) IN AFRICA WITH PEACE CORPby Kara Berzelius ‘07

While with the family, she is learning how to live in Swaziland--how to cook, speak the native language, and interact with the citizens. She will be on her mission until she returns home in August of 2013.

You can follow her adventures as a Peace Corp volunteer at http://www.bethanyleechpc.blogspot.com/

As anyone who is far from home for a long amount of time, she could always use some love. Letters can be sent to:Bethany Leech, PCVUS Peace CorpsPO Box 2797Mbabane H100 SwazilandAFRICA

A normal letter costs $.98, a small package under 5 lbs costs around $40. Mail also takes around two weeks for her to receive.

Keep Bethany in your thoughts as she is living the creed and lending to those less fortunate a helping hand for the next two years!

What do you do to live the creed?

Our Zeta Sigma sister Bethany Leech (‘08) has accepted a position with the United States Peace Corps! At the beginning of June, Bethany left for Mbabane, Swaziland (in Southern Africa) for training and is just about to begin her 2 year service in Luve.

She is trained to help with the education of STD/AIDS of the people in her village. During training, she lived with a host family and inherited a dad (babe), a mom (make), 4 brothers (bhutis), and 4 sisters (sisis).
