The report the men gave was good and bad, but it depended on who was giving their report. Isn’t it interesting that today it’s somewhat the same? I remember when we (VIF) were thinking about selling a portion of our land. The church had some good things and some bad things to say. Prior to this scripture passage a report was given that the land was good as God said it was, it was a land filled with milk and honey. The twelve men brought back some incredibly de- licious food for everyone to see. How- ever, the next report that was given just trumped all the good news and lus- cious food they just enjoyed. I think what topped it all was most of the men kept saying that the men there were big as giants. That “g” word “giant” scared not only most of the men who went and in- vestigated the land but also the people when they heard that the inhabitants were as big as giants. Caleb reminded the people in this scripture passage to take the land and that we have a greater “G” word. That word is GOD! Like the people of Israel, we tend to forget we have a great God who is bigger than any giant on earth. God is bigger than anything we encounter and just about everything we face every- day. Caleb had no problem telling the people to go and take the land because he didn’t forget how great God is! He stood on the promises of God that no harm was going to come to them. That God was go- ing to be in the battle with them, and God Almighty will give them the promised land. I want to encour- age all of us. Don’t forget the “G” word which is God! Spend time thanking Him for who He is and showing and giving us His love, grace and mercy. God’s promises have been given to us through His Son our Savior, Jesus. God is good and His love endures forever.

Don’t Forget the “G” Word...Pastor Darren Sarmiento

“But Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses. “Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!” But the other men who had explored the land with him disagreed. “We can’t go up against them! They are stronger than we are!” So they spread this bad report about the land among the Israelites: “The land we traveled through and explored will devour anyone who goes to live there. All the people we saw were huge. We even saw giants there, the descendants of Anak. Next to them we felt like grasshoppers, and that’s what they thought, too!”

Numbers 13:30-33 NLT

Most of us remember what happened when Moses sent twelve men to go and explore Canaan, the land that God promised to give to Israel. The twelve

men brought back some incredibly de-licious food for everyone to see. How-ever, the next report that

was given just trumped all the good news and lus-cious food they just enjoyed. I think what topped it all was most of the men kept saying that the men there were big as giants. That “g” word “giant”

scared not only most of the men who went and in-vestigated the land but also the people when they heard that the inhabitants were as big as giants.

Caleb reminded the people in this scripture passage to take the land and that we have a greater “G” word. That word is GOD! Like the people of Israel, we tend to forget we have a great God who is bigger than any giant on earth. God is bigger than anything we encounter and just about everything we face every-day. Caleb had no problem telling the people to go and take the land because he didn’t forget how great God is! He stood on the promises of God that no harm was going to come to them. MISSIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

International Mission BoardConnecting in Prayer

https://www.imb.org/pray/

*European Peoples-As summer looms ahead and schools prepare to free their students for the next several months, IMB personnel serving throughout the countries in the area of the Black Sea are preparing to use the days of summer to reach their cities in ways they cannot during the winter months. Intercede for those who are making preparations for volunteers who have heard the call to go to the nations and are ready to be used to impact lostness in each of those countries. Pray for the hearts of those who are not yet believers, hardened by sin and by the evil one, to become hearts of flesh prepared by the Holy Spirit to hear and receive the Good News.

*People of Northeast Uttermost, East Asia-The spring semester is in full swing! Praise God for the Easter parties and programs that happened around the area. Many people heard the gospel message. Pray that God will call many into his family. Thank him for the trainings that took place last month. Continue to pray for local churches and their leaders in one city. Pray for the small groups that meet during the week and for the students who attend. May God open hearts and minds to hear his Word.
