A man was exiting the church one day and the pastor was standing at the door to shake hands with the people as they left church. The pastor grabbed the man’s hand and said, “You need to join the army of the Lord.” The man replied, “I’m already in the army of the Lord, Pastor.” So, the pastor inquired, “Then how come I only see you at Christmas and at Easter?” The man then whispered, “Because I’m in the secret service.”

If this joke was true, then we would have a lot of folks in the “secret service” of our Lord. I want to say that there is no “secret service” when it comes to our relationship with Christ. We are to be strong in our stance and bold in our proclamation of the relationship we have in Christ. Yet, there are some, maybe you, who only attends church a few times a year or when it is convenient. I want to encourage each of you to attend more and get more involved in the work of the church. Jesus, the Bible says, died for the church. (Ephesians 5:25) If Jesus loves the church that much then shouldn’t we love the church, too, and love being there as well?

In September, we finished the sermon series, “Twenty-Twenty Vision: Discovering God’s Will for Our Church in 2020 and Beyond.” In this series, we set some goals and I would like to share some of those goals with you…

These are goals that we can only reach together. We can’t do it by simply doing what we have done before. Many of these goals are based on attendance. Attendance translates to people. People attending services, Sunday School, Sunday and Wednesday nights means people who are meeting together, worshipping together, and growing together. That is the kind of church Jesus loved and died for. A church where all the people who make it up are passionate about serving the Lord and seeing people come to know Him. Just a few weeks ago, we introduced a campaign called, “Committing Together In…” In this campaign, we have committed together in Fellowship, Worship, Ministry, Discipleship, and Evangelism.

Will you join us as we look toward

the future and seek together

in following God’s will for our church?

“… just as Christ

also loved the church and gave Himself

for her…” Eph. 5 :25

“I would like to thank all those involved in surprising me with the “20 th Years of Service”

service last month. It was a total surprise to me to find many of my relatives in the audience that morning. Betsy and I are grateful for all the church has done for us in these 20 years and we have enjoyed partnering with Robbins First Baptist in this blessed ministry. Thanks again for all you do and may God continue to bless us on our journey together.” – Greg

It gives me great joy to share what the Lord has been doing in our congregation and will continue to do in the future. We continue to have home gatherings in different homes. The purpose is threefold: 1) Increase fellowship among church members. 2) Invite a neighbor 3) Witnesses in the community. In the following months we will be participating in various joint

activities in preparation for our third Evangelistic crusade in Biscoe. Monday September 16, Monday September 23rd, and Monday September 30th, we started having a series of prayer meetings in the churches that are supporting the crusade; Robbins, Seagrove, and Candor. On Saturday October 5th we’ll have our community-wide visitation in Candor, Biscoe, Star, and Troy. Finally, on Friday October 18 and Saturday October 19 we will have our evangelistic crusade to reach the Hispanic people from the communities. There will be good food, dynamic preaching, and good music. Pastor: Ernesto Robledo, D. Min.

Pastor: Ernesto Robledo, D. Min.

The Adult Choir and Children’s Choir have begun rehearsals for the Christmas season! We welcome anyone who would like to sing in either Choir! This year the choirs are presenting musicals by the husband and wife team, Dennis and Nan Allen.

Dennis and his wife, Nan, are a

husband-wife team who is impacting church music with their fresh and

incisive songs. Dennis, the composer of the two, is a graduate of the

University of Georgia and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with a degree in church music and has

served as a minister of music for 12 years. Nan earned her degree in

communications from the University of Alabama. In addition to serving as a workshop leader and studio singer,

she writes lyrics, drama, and curriculum materials.

The Adult Choir’s cantata is entitled “His Name is Jesus”. It is a wonderful reminder of the precious name of Jesus, Our Lord and Savior. The Adult Choir meets at 7:00 pm on Sunday evenings following the Sunday evening service. The Children’s Choir musical is entitled, “It All Happened in the Country”, also by Dennis and Nan. It centers around finding the true meaning of Christmas, country style! The Children’s Choir meets on Sunday evenings during the children’s BLAST time at 6:00 pm.

Last month, 18 of our students purchased a 365 day devotional. When I asked them about the possibility of getting the devotional, nearly every hand in the room shot up in favor of it. Why? Because they are truly and whole-heartedly seeking to know God! They are seeking to grow together as a group and it shows. It’s contagious! This past Sunday night, we started going through the Book of James verse-by-verse. I expected to get through the first chapter and to cover the remainder of the book over the next 4 weeks. We only got through the first 8 verses! Why? Because our kids truly want to know the Word! They want to hear it and they want to discuss it so that they can understand it better. I’m so very proud of our youth here at RFBC and you should be as well! What God has done in them over the last few months is rare and beautiful. I feel so blessed to get to witness it all! Will you please continue to pray for them? Pray that God keeps filling their hungry hearts. Pray that He will protect the decisions many of them made at camp. Pray that the seeds that have been sown will be continuously watered. Pray that those who haven’t yet made Him Lord of their lives will do so very soon. And please pray that our youth will stand boldly for God among their friends, unashamed of the Gospel, so that others will be brought to the saving knowledge of our Lord! Our youth group is increasing in number and I believe it will continue as our kids endeavor to grow in their relationship with Jesus and to shine for Him! All is grace,

Becky
