DESCRIPTION
Civil Society Support Program (CSSP) in partnership with the support of DAI-EDACE (Enhanced Democratic Accountability and Civic Engagement Program) is implementing a project titled “Empowering Youth for Improving Social Harmony and Protection of Civic Rights” in three districts i.e. Larkana, Jacobabad and Kashmore @ Kandhkot. The goal of the project is “Strengthened Youth Engagement for the Effective Rule of Law in project districts. The duration of the project is July 1, 2015 to March 31, 2016. The project aims to strengthen local youth groups to engage them in promoting and protecting human rights of vulnerable groups specifically women, youth and minorities. The project is intended to contribute in raising voice of youth to address the issues of VAW, minority rights and FOI at community level. The CSSP organized visits to assess capacity of NGOs/CBOs for partnership in implementation of the project activities in the districts. The organization assessed CBOs/NGOs according to their expertise in the thematic areas; the MoU was also signed with the selected CBOs. The milestones were set up and the action plan was also developed to implement the activities. 6 NGOs/ CBOs were selected (2 from each district).According to the project plan, the CSSP started awareness sessions to identify interested youth in the specified areas. Through this exercise, potential youth were organized and formed from them youth groups at every UC level; each consisted of minimum 25 members. Finally, the CSSP team formed 30 youth groups and planned to engage them in action months.Moreover, for the capacity building of such youth groups, 5 extraordinary brilliant young people were selected from the all three targeted districts. Then, a mega event of the TOT was organized consecutively for five days under auspices of the CSSP at Safwco HID in Hyderabad in which such selected 15 young people were trained who are assigned to train the youth groups in the targeted districts. The themes of the delivered TOT are mentioned as below:1. Training & Communication Skills2. Freedom of Information ( English to Urdu and Sindhi)3. Women Rights ( Only Sindhi translation)4. Interfaith harmony (Only Urdu Translation) 5. Para Legal (Only Urdu Translation)The above mentioned training manuals were designed and prepared in English, and then CSSP hired a consultant to translate the manuals in Sindhi and Urdu languages. Now the master trainers are engaged while conducting trainings (TOT Replication) the targeted UCs. The CBOs and partner NGOs are bound to provide assistance in organizing the events at UC level.
