Private conservancies are a bit off the beaten-path with far fewer safari vehicles and where we can drive off-road in search of big cats and other elusive wildlife. (Nov 6-21) 1) Extend to the coast of Kenya for 3 nights at Delta Dunes

OPTIONAL POST-TRIP: The Kenya Coast Why not take a few extra days for another “WOW” experience: at Delta Dunes. During the day, race sand yachts, explore shade-dappled creeks by kayak, or simply se-le into a hammock by the pool. In the evening, enjoy a sunset river cruise, followed by cocktails and a candlelit dinner of freshly-caught seafood under the stars.

THE GREAT MIGRATION The migra+on happens throughout the year, when a million-plus wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebras, elands, and gazelles cross travel through Tanzania and Kenya in search of food and water. A thrilling moment is when the herds leap into the crocodile-infested Mara River. Due to climate change, nobody can ever predict exactly when this spectacle will happen. When it does, it gets crowded - with LOTS of safari vehicles jockeying for posi+on. Because we’re staying in a private reserve, only 15 minutes away from one of the key migra+on crossings, we will avoid the high-season safari traffic.

ACCOMMODATIONSTAMARIND TREE HOTEL Nairobi, Kenya Tamarind Tree is a comfortable place to recoup from the long journey before your safari adventure begins! It’s conveniently located near the domes+c airport.

DELTA DUNES LODGE (POST-TRIP) Kenya Coast

Extend your stay with three extra nights on the coast of the Indian Ocean! Robinson Crusoe never had it so good!

Delta Dunes Lodge sits high atop the windswept dunes at the mouth of the Tana River. Nestled among the palms, seven open-fronted co-ages are constructed from dri[wood and are naturally cooled by the ocean breeze. From your private veranda look out over the lush and wild landscape.

KIPALO HILLS CAMP Mbulia Conservancy, near Tsavo West Na7onal Park

In the local Teita language, Kipalo means “a special place where one returns to again and again”. It’s a win-win-win: Local people built Kipalo, which provides employment to the community who take pride in their jobs that protect wildlife through tourism.

The camp is set in 12,000 acres of private conservancy with eight luxury double tents plus a swimming pool. Bush walking is one of the main a-rac+ons here - both day and night game driving are allowed in this private conservancy.

ELEPHANT GORGE CAMP Noolarami Conservancy, near Amboseli Na7onal Park

Accommoda+ng only 10 guests, Elephant Gorge is a contemporary luxury lodge in an area with the largest concentra+on of elephants in Kenya.

Offering spectacular views of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world, Amboseli is home to cape buffalos, impala, lions, cheetahs, spo-ed hyenas, giraffe, zebras and wildebeests among other African animals, as well as 400 species of birds.

INSTINCT OF THE MARA LODGE Olderkesi Conservancy, near Maasai Mara Na7onal Park

Opened early in 2019, Ins+nct of the Mara features nine luxury-appointed tents with verandahs that open to beau+ful views of the Mara. Take a behind-the-scenes tour to learn how sustainability has been incorporated into every feature of the property.

Lodge staff are a-en+ve and always smiling. It’s difficult to imagine that prior to the lodge’s opening, many of the team were herding goats!

WOW! will have exclusive use of all these camps! . . . (pictures don’t do them justice …)

…from the WOW! Travel Club Kenya adventure, September 2019: “This has been one of the most rewarding and humbling experiences of my life. The combination of magnificent scenery, beautiful animals, and most importantly - the people - created an experience I could never replicate. Special thanks to Richard, who does his job as a commissioner and a trustee of this magnificent land - not for personal gain - but with a passion for the sanctity of this magnificent land.” Cy Theobald - Exeter, New Hampshire

“This trip has exceeded my expectations in every way. When I signed up for the safari I thought that I was signing up for a “typical” safari. This has been beyond the typical. It’s the little things that differentiate you and your team from everyone else that operate safaris. The bonus? Your guides!” Jack Daly - San Clemente, CA

“The animals have been spectacular but what has touched my heart the most is the kindness that everyone has showed. The staff were willing to do whatever we wanted - even before we knew what we wanted! I will remember this trip for the rest of my life.” Gloria Vogt-Nilson - Los Angeles, CA

“All of you - with the biggest smiles I’ve ever seen in my life - have changed me forever.” Gabriella Hoffman - Topanga, CA

You’ll travel with Richard Corcoran, a 3rd genera+on Kenyan, and passionate steward of the land, who will share invaluable background informa+on to enhance the wildlife experience.

Twice-daily game drives get you up close and personal with lions, elephants, leopards, buffalo, and hippos - many of which are endangered or threatened.

Stay in lodges on private conservancies where there are fewer tourists and safari vehicles.

You’ll choose an orphaned elephant from the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust to foster for a year

You’ll have an opportunity to meet your young adoptee when we visit the Sheldrick Rehabilita+on Unit near Voi, where orphaned elephants learn how to be “wild” again, ul+mately joining a herd. (Most likely we’ll be the only people there.)
