From Thaplamu Pier, the journey took just over an hour by speedboat. We thoroughly enjoyed the blue water and clear sky along the way and before we knew it, the island’s powder-white sands laid before us.

My slight sea-sickness was suddenly gone once the full view took over my every sense. The vivid clear sky, the trees, the sparkling water and gleaming beach were all so perfect. Most of us went straight to change to further explore the beautiful coral reefs that are reputed to be breath-taking.

Surin Beach is located about 24 kilometers from Phuket city center. Getting there can be done via highway number 402; and once you reach Thao Thep Kasattri-Thao Srisoonthorn Monument, turn left and continue for another 12 kilometers.

Eจตรกรวาดภาพเหลานม 14 คน เปนชาวเกาหลทงหมด ใชเวลาประมาณ 2 เดอนครง เพอวาดภาพเหลานมาใหพวกเราไดชมกน อกทงใชเปนฉากประกอบการถายรป พวกเราสนกสนานมากมายกบการโพสททาใหเขากบรปภาพแตละภาพ จนดเสมอนเปนสวนหนงของภาพนนจรงๆ

All in all, the paintings were drawn by 14 all-Korean artists who took two and a half months to complete. We had so much fun posing along with the different backgrounds to make our pictures as realistic and believable as possible.

Our time inside the museum flew by so quickly because it was entertaining and fun. And every time we looked at the pictures we took here, it still amazes us how realistic they seem, especially the scary ones.

Small islands, more often than not, are filled with wonders and challenge. So for this trip, we took a four-hour drive from Phuket to Krabi, heading for Lanta Island.

From Krabi’s pier, we drove our car onto the large ferry and reached Lanta Noi Island in 15 minutes. The ferry to Lanta Yai is on the other side of the island so we drove there and safely arrived our destination in less than ten minutes.

Mr. Oh, Thirapoj Kasirawat, the honorary guide and host was there to welcome and show us around. Among the range of things to do here, taking a tour on foot around the mangrove forest at Baan Thung Yee Peng was not-to-be-missed.

In the afternoon, it was time to explore the old parts of Lanta town which still showed signs of the prosperous past. Old wooden houses built over the water were especially popular with visitors.

Further along the tour, we came upon Baan Sanka-U fishing village where the “Urak-lawoy” aboriginal sea people live. They were busy going about their chores of mending boats and fishing nets, the ladies were busy chatting away while the kids were giggling and chasing each other about. It was a simple but happy way of life.

These are not unlike everyone else’s Kanom Tahn but the secret which makes her cakes special are the freshness of all ingredients and the attention she puts into them.

Before, Aunty Tiew used to make Kanom Tahn only for friends and family; but now she is making an average of 9 kilograms of these per day. She doesn’t even need a fancy bakery to sell her cakes, all she has to do is make them and vendors are already queuing up to get their share.
