UPDATES ON COVID-19 FROM THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE-Atotal of 95,526 patients have been cured of COVID-19

Presently, there are 97,581 active cases and all are under active medical supervision. A total of 3708COVID-19 patients have been cured during the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 95,526 patients havebeen cured of COVID-19. The recovery rate is 48.07% amongst COVID-19 patients. India’s recoveryrate continues to increase and the fatality rate is one amongst the lowest in the world. As on today, thefatality rate is 2.82%.

The population of India & the total population of 14 most affected countries are almost the same.Despite a similar population, as on 1st June 2020, the total cases in those 14 most affected countries is22.5 times that in India. The total deaths occurred due to COVID-19 in those 14 most affected countriesis 55.2 times that of India.In these circumstances, the focus is to minimize the fatalities as much aspossible through timely case identification and clinical management of the cases. The relatively lowdeath figures can be attributed to the two pronged strategy - timely case identification and clinicalmanagement of the cases.

Officially designated lockdown 5.0,from June 1, 2020, the economy and ordinary life are returning to normalcy in a controlled and phasedmanner. This is the beginning of a new normal. Punjab: Taking the state’s battle against Covid to the grassroots, Punjab Chief Minister launched amonth-long drive, as part of `Mission Fateh’, to spread mass awareness about the pandemic. Thecampaign, which will broaden the ambit of Mission Fateh beyond the frontline workers, will bringthe people of Punjab into its fold to make the fight against Covid a battle of the people, by thepeople and for the people, said the Chief Minister. Emphasis would be on recognising the threat ofthe virus, which continues to pose serious dangers to the people. People would be encouraged tolead by example and advise others about the precautions to be taken and report violations thatcome to their notices.Haryana: State Home Minister said that permission to open all the shops from 9 am to 7 pm in thestate has been given while adhering to social distancing norms. He said the odd-even or left-rightformula will not be followed; instead the administration will issue instructions to maintain socialdistancing norms in congested markets after assessing local conditions. He said that in accordancewith the instructions of the Central Government, a curfew would be imposed from 9.00 pm to 5.00am and no activity will be allowed during this time.Himachal Pradesh: Chief Minister launched Skill Register developed by Information TechnologyDepartment to create a sound data base of migrants, who have entered Himachal Pradesh duringthe lockdown in the wake of Corona pandemic. He said that interested persons can registerthrough skillregister.hp.gov.in. He said various companies and industrial houses can also registertheir requirements on this portal. He said that this would ensure the uploading of educationalqualification, skills and job requirement of the people who have returned to the State. He said thatthis would also help in identifying skill available in the State and in analysis of skill upgradationrequirements. He said that this would help the industries in getting information regarding skilledmanpower at a click of the button.Arunachal:Under PMKSY, about 68 thousand farmers have been given Rs. 2000 by Central govtand state government has also provided extra Rs. 1000 to them.Assam: Defence Research and Development Organisation has approved Defence ResearchLaboratory,Tezpur in Assam as an authorized testing centre for COVID19. 28 new COVID19positive cases in Assam. Manipur: Two more COVID19 positive cases in Manipur. Total positive case in the state is 85 with74 active cases.Mizoram: Governor Shri SreedharanPillai commits 30% of his gross salary to the CM's ReliefFund for a period of 6 months starting from May, 2020. CM donated 60% of his basic pay to theCM's Relief Fund to mitigate COVID19. This is in conjunction with a decision made at a meetingheld with legislators under the chairmanship of Speaker.Nagaland: Govt notifies that existing lockdown guidelines will remain in force, while DimapurTask Force makes slight modifications in view of increasing number of returnees. The number of active casesin the state now stands at 37,543. Maharashtra has till date conducted 4,71,473 tests, highest forany state in India. Even as the Western metropolis is fighting the Coronavirus pandemic, it has tobrace for Cyclone Nisarg, which is likely to cross Alibag in Maharashtra on June 3rd afternoon,with sustained wind speed of 100 -110 kmph. As a precautionary measure, state authorities havedecided to shift nearly 150 asymptomatic Covid patients from the make-shift set up in BKC areato a facility in Worli, which has a covered rooftop.Gujarat: The number of Covid 19 cases has risen to 17,217 after addition of 423 new infections inthe last 24 hours. 25 fresh deaths were reported in the state taking the toll to 1,063. A record 861COVID-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals in the state. With this, the number ofrecoveries in the state crossed the 10,000 mark. The State Administration has geared up to tacklethe possible cyclonic storm Nisarga that is likely to hit the south Gujarat coast by tomorrow. ChiefMinister Vijay Rupani today instructed all the concerned District Collectors to complete theshifting of people from low lying areas to safer places by tomorrow afternoon. To prevent thespread of COVID-19, the Collectors have been asked to ensure social distancing, use of masks andPPE suits during the evacuation process.Madhya Pradesh: 194 new cases have been reported in last 24 hours. The state has reported 8,283COVID-19 cases and 358 deaths due to the disease so far. Thus far, the virus has affected 51 out ofthe total 52 districts in the state. While, more than 5 thousand recovered from the infection.Rajasthan: In all, 171 persons have been tested positive for COVID-19 today taking the totalnumber of reported cases to 8,980. However, the active cases in the state are only 2,742 as 6,040people have been cured and discharged.Chhattisgarh: 45 new COVID-19 infections have been reported in the latest update, taking thenumber of reported cases to 547. The state government has notified 16 districts, including Raipuras red zone, while 17 districts are in orange zone.

UPDATES ON COVID-19 FROM THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE-RECOVERY RATE INCREASES TO 48.19%

During the last 24 hours 4,835 COVID-19 patients have been cured. Thus so far, a total of 91,818patients have been cured of COVID-19. The recovery rate in the country is progressively increasing andhas reached 48.19% amongst COVID-19 patients. The recovery rate on 18 May was 38.29 %. On 3May it was 26.59 %. On 15 April it was 11.42 %.

Presently there are 93,322 active cases in the country which are under active medical supervision. Thecase fatality rate is 2.83%. On 18th May, the case fatality rate was 3.15%. On 3rd May, it was 3.25 %.On 15th April it was 3.30 %. A steady decline can be seen in the case fatality rate in the country. Therelatively low death rate is attributed to the continued focus on surveillance, timely case identificationand clinical management of the cases.

The testing capacity has increased in the country through 472 Government and 204 private laboratories(total 676 laboratories). Cumulatively, 38,37,207 samples have been tested so far for COVID-19,whereas, 1,00,180 samples were tested yesterday.

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri NarendraModi met on Monday, 1st June 2020. Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for Kharif Crops for marketing season 2020-21

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the increase in the MinimumSupport Prices (MSPs) for all mandated Kharif crops for marketing season 2020-21.Government hasincreased the MSP of Kharif crops for marketing season 2020-21, to ensure remunerative prices to thegrowers for their produce. The highest increase in MSP is proposed for nigerseed (Rs 755 per quintal)followed by sesamum (Rs 370 per quintal), urad (Rs 300 per quintal) and cotton (long staple) (Rs 275per quintal). The differential remuneration is aimed at encouraging crop diversification.

Train services on Indian Railways have been further partially restored w.e.f. from 01st June 2020. Morethan 1.45 lac passengers will travel on Day 1 of 200 trains starting on June 1. The Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution Shri Ram Vilas Paswan todayannounced the inclusion of three more states namely - Odisha, Sikkim and Mizoram in the scheme on‘Integrated Management of Public Distribution System’ (IM-PDS).Under this system nation-wideportability of the benefits under NFSA through “One Nation One Ration Card” plan is implemented toenable the NFSA ration card holders to lift their entitled quota of subsidisedfoodgrains from any ePoSenabled FPS of their choice anywhere in the country, by using the existing/same ration card afterAadhaar authentication on ePoS device.The facility so far is enabled in 17 States/UTs.

Punjab: Chief Minister said that strict action will be taken against those who don't follow properprecautions. Between 17 May to 28 May, 36,820 people have been fined for not wearing masks,4,032 for spitting on roads, and 503 FIRs have been filed.Haryana: Chief Minister said that various steps are being taken by the State Government in itsfight against on-going global Pandemic COVID-19. However, while fighting this battle, providingration to every needy has remained the top most priority of the State Government so that no oneremains hungry in this hour of crisis. The ration card cardholders as well as those who do not haveany card, have been provided ration through ‘Distress Tokens’. This facility was provided toaround 486000 people in the State. The Chief Minister said that as no vaccine is available for thetreatment of this infection till now, therefore each one of us has to ensure that precautions likewearing masks, adhering to social distancing norms are incorporated in our lifestyle.Himachal Pradesh: The State Government has decided to give relaxation in the curfew from 6 amto 8 pm, to facilitate the common people. Chief Minister said that since inter district buses wouldstart plying from 1st June, it must be ensured that there was proper social distancing in the busesand also at the bus stands. He said that the District Magistrates and Superintendents of Policewould provide adequate police force for crowd management and law and order maintenance at allthe bus stands. He said that the buses would be allowed to ply with not more than 60percentoccupancy and the drivers, conductors and passengers would follow all the safety protocolsof the Health Department. Chief Minister said that inter-district movement of the people of theState would be allowed without any pass, but passes would be required for interstate movement.He said that the people coming from other parts of the country would be quarantined. He said thatpeople coming from red zones would be kept in institutional quarantine and those from other areaswould be kept in home quarantine. He said that the persons in institutional quarantine would beallowed to go home only after their test for COVID-19 was negative.Maharashtra: With 2,487 new cases, Maharashtra’s Covid-19 tally has reached 67,655 confirmedcases. Of these, 29,329 have fully recovered, while 2,286 died. In the meantime, 93 moreMaharashtra Police personnel, including 8 officers have tested positive for Covid-19. The totalnumber of police personnel who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the State so far stands at2,509. Out of this 27 police personnel have succumbed to coronavirus in Maharashtra so far.Inter-state travel by road, air and trains from Maharashtra will remain prohibited in the latest phase ofthe lockdown until June 30 with exceptions being made for migrant workers, stranded people and'Shramik' special trains, as per the latest guidelines issued by the state government.Gujarat: State has reported 438 new coronavirus cases and 31 deaths, including 20 in worst-hitAhmedabad, taking the total case count to 16,794 and the number of fatalities to 1,038.Rajasthan: The number ofnovel coronavirus cases in Rajasthan increased to 8,980 after 149 peopletested positive for the infection. Of the fresh 149 positive cases, the highest of 44 cases are fromBharatpur, 32 from Jaipur, 27 from Baran and 21 from Pali. While all religious places, shoppingmalls and hotels will remain closed, Rajasthan Government has permitted all government andprivate offices to work with capacity. MP: The COVID-19 positive cases count in Madhya Pradesh crossed the 8000-mark on Sundaywith 198 new cases being reported during the past 24 hours. This is the maximum number of patients recovered/discharged from hospitalsacross the state in any single day.Chhattisgarh: Five more COVID-19 cases have been reported in Chhattisgarh taking the totalnumber of Covid Positive cases to 503. The number of active cases is 388, while the state hasrecorded a single death thus far.Kerala: Inter-district bus services in Kerala will resume from tomorrow; no permission has beengranted for inter-state travel as of now.
