WelcomeCitizensAdvisoryBoard

Dan Sutich, Chair

Dear Citizens of Pierce County:

This Fall Brochure is your invitation from your Pierce County Parks & Recreation Citizens Advisory Board (CAB) for you and your families to participate in a wide range of recreational programs and events. This is a very exciting time for the CAB, as it is the first time in many years that there is a complete nine member board in place, with well defined short term and long term goals. Some accomplishments include:

providing advice to the County Executive and Council •regarding the future of Sprinker Recreation Center

reviewing and advising the department on the budget •reductions and reductions in services

participating in the master planning, naming and •dedicating the new Ashford County Park

participating in many of the department’s special events•

funding several employees’ attendance at the annual •professional conference

convening a task force to study the future funding for •your park system

During these difficult economic times we are more committed than ever to providing you with close to home recreational opportunities that will enhance your quality of life. We have tremendous park and recreation resources in Pierce County and we are dedicated to providing you with the best service possible.

Respectfully,

(Back L to R): Becky Hibbs, Jennifer Bacon, Curtis Hancock, Karen Ansteth, Whil Basea. (Front) Dave Morell, Tom Sayre, and Peter Whitley. Not pictured Dan Sutich.

Players receive one training session and one small-sided game every Sunday, both coached by a Challenger Sports professional soccer coach!

The Skills League focuses on developing the individual technical ability of each player with emphasis on ball familiarity, dribbling, individual moves, turns, tricks, passing, control and more!

Every Sunday the players will compete in organized games where they will put into practice the skills they learned the previous sessions the hour before. CompanionshipProgram

Pierce County Parks and Recreation is proud to offer “Companionship,” a program designed to provide recreation and leisure opportunities for individuals of all abilities and their friends and families. Our goal is to assist the participants in finding and maintaining strong friendships.

We assist in nurturing friendships by offering many different activities in the county for families to participate in. All Companionship activities become a place where everyone is welcome. These activities are a natural place to learn how to interact, make friends, and try new things.

The program will host over 150 different functions throughout the school year. Those participating in the program on an ongoing basis determine the activities.

There is no membership or commitment. Come once or come often. Examples of activities include dances, putt putt golf, swimming, family play nights, baseball & basketball games, ice skating, picnics, bowling, special outings, movies, and much more! Fees may apply for some activities.

Companionship produces a monthly newsletter with a calendar of events for the month.
