LABASCULA CASTA DIVA MOSCATEL 2013 (D.O. ALICANTE) D.O. ALICANTE MOSCATEL 100% Casta Diva reflects producer Felipe Gutiérrez de la Vega’s love and passion for opera. We have searched the length and breadth of Spain for a fine dessert wine and believe we have found one of the very finest. Felipe Gutiérrez de la Vega makes wine from his de facto organic 12 hectares of vineyard at his small winery in Parcent in the province of Alicante. Felipe’s Moscatel grapes are late picked, resulting in a very high residual sugar. Ageing in a variety of barrels (including some Hungarian and Caucasian) enhances this already complex, deep flavoured wine which is characterised by orange peel, honey, raisins and spices and great length. A fantastic dessert wine. NB. Nearly all bottles will develop a slight protein deposit in bottle – the wine is very slightly filtered and not clarified to preserve the essence and freshness. Despite being very low in SO2 it will keep fresh in the fridge once bottled for many weeks. Analysis Alcohol 13.3% Total So2 112mg/l Free So2 >15mg/l pH 3.12 Total Acidity 4.98g/l Volatile Acidity 0.42g/l Residual Sugar 185g/l www.labascula.net
