also
be
required to
undertake an Asbestos Awareness
Training
course
prior to working
on site, provided
by
at UKATA
approved training
provider.
Whilst the
works are not intended to
‘disturb’
asbestos,
the
widespread
presence
of asbestos
including asbestos
insulation) in
the
vicinity
of
the
work
zone
renders this a
prudent course
of
action.
Site

must
be
adhered
to.
The

be
under the
daily control of a
supervisor
who has successfully
completed
the Demolition

Should any
approach be made to
Safedem
Operatives
voicing complaint during
the
course
of
these works, please
ensure that you
immediately report
this to
Site
Management
in
order that
it can
be
investigated
further and
verified.
All site
operatives will hold
a valid
and
up to date CSCS card.
Daily
weather
reports
are
to
be
taken
to check for
periods of
heavy
rain
which
ma y cause
the
adjacent
watercourse
to flood causing
flood
which poses
a risk to
operatives I works
on
the
phase
2 site.
Weather
will
also
be
monitored to
ensure
adverse
conditions
in
respect
of
asbestos
fibre risk
are
not
encountered
without
the
provision
of
adequate risk
control
measures. Such
adverse
conditions
would typically be dry,
sunny
and windy.
Only
suitably licensed
and
experienced
persons
will
be
used for
any asbestos
work and
ALL
asbestos will
be
removed to
a suitably licensed
landfill. All
asbestos works,
whether
deemed
to
be
categorised
as ‘Minor’
or ‘Major’
will be subject
to
separate risk
assessments
and method
statements
RAMS .
A temporary herras fence l ine
should
be constructed
along the
route of the
river to ensure
no
operatives can
access the
watercourse
deliberately
or
accidentally from
the phase
2
site.
A
decontamination unit
will
be on site
for
the duration
of the
works
along
with all
relevant
coveralls and
face
masks
given
the
nature of the work.
All
personnel
will
have
been trained in
the
correct use of PPE including
face
-fit tests for
RPE and in the
decontamination procedures.
A
full
site
induction wil l be g iven
to
all site personnel explaining
the nature
of the works
and the use of
the
decontamination works.
During
periods of asbestos
work no
un licensed
operatives will
be working in
that area.
All
machines
will
be
checked
daily for evidence
of damage
which may
lead to any
spillages
which may
cause
harm to the
river;
if
anything is noted
this
will
be
recorded and
rectified
before works
progress.
Vehicle cabs
will
also
be
periodically
air
tested
for
the
presence
of asbestos fibres.
Sepa’s
emergency
pollution
line phone
number will
be
given
to all
personnel
on
site
so
that
in
the unlikely
event
of pollution
occurring thi s can be
reported
immediately;
if this
situation
occurs works
will cease immediately.
Daily
air
monitoring will
be
carried
out
during
this phase
of
the
works
to ensure that
no
air
borne asbestos
fibres
are being
generated above
0.0 If/cc i.e. the
‘clearance
indicator’ ;
if evidence
shows
that airborne fibres
are being
generated above
these levels,
works
will cease
immediately and the
area
will
be
fully
sealed
to allow
a
re
-evaluation by
the
specialist
contractor and
asbestos
analyst.
