RULE #4.

The first step for learning a language is
understanding which tools, strategies and techniques you can use in order to succeed
and take control of your learning.

How to become and stay motivated
and the golden rule of motivation.

But first, let me tell you a story about motivation:
John is a normal guy who took some basic English classes in high school. He has some friends who speak English, and he realizes how important this language is and how important it will be in the future. He’s always wanted to learn it.

On January 1st, he decides to start studying English. He buys a course to learn on his own and creates a detailed study schedule. He's very excited about the idea that soon he will be speaking English! His motivation is very high! During the first week, he studies one hour every day. He is happy with his performance.
However, during the second week, something happens. The novelty has disappeared and he is losing momentum. In the third week, he studies on and off, until he finally quits. He tells himself that maybe he doesn’t have so much time as he thought. He thinks…”Yes, in the summer, when I have more time, I will start again, and this time will be different…”
It happens all the time. Diets, exercise…learning English.
We all start with great energy, great motivation, great expectations… but then, for some reason, we lose momentum, and we end up quitting.
There’s an easy way to avoid this:
Find a peer group!
A peer group is a group of people who share similar
goals and interests.

Imagine you want to lose weight.
The same thing happens when learning English.
Being part of a group of people with the same goal lets you share experiences, help other people and be helped, see other's success,
and ultimately be more inspired.

If you’re part of a peer group, a group of positive and motivated people who want to learn English like you, it will dramatically
increase your chances to succeed.
It’s really inspiring to see the progress and success of others. That makes you see that
you are on the right track.
At Speak English Now we have a free private
online group for students, where everybody can ask
questions, share thoughts, comment, and more. It's
the place where people can also socialize.

Here's my suggestion for today:
If you’re learning English on your own, find a nice group of people with the
same goals as you.
You’ll notice the difference!
DON’T STUDY GRAMMAR RULES!
USE THE POINT OF VIEW TECHNIQUE.
