Measurement of own success….

Many a times we have seen the success being

measured and celebrated…

Many a times we experienced how the teams we

are working with … our mentors …our coaches…

and our self-dedication leading us to success…

Every day we see many examples of how success-

ful people, entrepreneurs… lead and cherish

success…..

We often hear, see these stories of success only at

the pinnacle of their career … The stories of

becoming successful… or the celebrations of

achievements along the way might not be heard by

many of us as these are only heard amongst your

peers or within your organization…..

Well, we are about to make your outstanding

achievements recognized and celebrated within the

management practice of Sri Lanka

Whether you are in the public or private sector…

the PIMA-Olympics: National Management

Awards would be the opportunity for you to show-

case your managerial achievements..!!!

Message from the President of the PIMA

It brings me great pleasure to issue this message to you at this historical mile-

stone of Sri Lankan management community. Postgraduate Institute of Man-

agement (PIM), being the undisputed leader in the Business Management

education has gifted many talented individuals to the economic engine of Sri

Lanka and overseas, a fact most fondly embraced by almost any management

professional of this country.

The PIMA-Olympics: National Management Awards, will be the next

greatest breakthrough event in the local management community history

books. Being the Alumni of the nation’s management incubator, who else

would be more eligible to felicitate the management professionals of this

country other than PIMA.

For the three decades, PIMA has been felicitating the top achievers in the

professional management community in Sri Lanka, a salient category in the

economic engine of the country but seldom recognized. Being a gathering of

top management professionals of Sri Lanka, and having the non- ending thirst

to provide excellent recognition to such individuals, PIMA has radically re-

invented its’ platinum awards to now cover the entire management communi-

ty, including the expatriate managers and Sri Lankan professionals serving in

Middle East rather than their own local alumni.

Please join hands with me, our panel of judges, the executive committee and

the event committee at this great juncture in time, to witness the felicitation

of excellence and applaud great achievements of these unique individuals

who will rewrite the history of management in Sri Lanka.

The University of Sri Jayewardenepura, to which PIM is affiliated, is

Hikkaduwe Sri Sumangala Nayaka Thero laid the foundation of

this distinguished centre of learning as a Pirivena (Institute of Bud-

dhist and Oriental Studies) named Vidyodaya (meaning "awakening

of knowledge").

the prime focus was to serve the plantation industry, which was the

prime source of the commercial activities of Sri Lanka during that

time.

The agriculture based services provided by the CCC to its members,

gradually elevated to value added services. Over a period of years,

CCC which plays a catalytic role in the development of the business

sector, changed its focus on identifying key issues to assist in the de-

velopment of strategic plans to meet new challenges and opportuni-

ties. With the close rapport maintained with the Government sector,

the CCC continued to strengthen its role as a channel between the

Government and the Private sector.

It was also the first Chamber to be represented in the Senate and

House of Representatives in the days of Ceylon, first to be accepted as

an affiliate member of Confederation of Asia Pacific Chambers of

Commerce & Industry (CACCI) in 1983. the CCC is the sole author-

ized body in Sri Lanka to operate the GS1 Standards system.

National Chamber of Commerce

The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri

Lanka (www.nationalchamber.lk) was found-

ed in 1948 soon after Sri Lanka gained inde-

pendence from British colonial rule, primari-

ly to establish a forum for the Sri Lankan

business community. The foremost objective

of the Chamber at that time was the Ceylonisation of trade, as the pol-
